FSCDI SPONSOR CHILDREN HOLIDAY TOY GIVEAWAY HONORING JIM GALLOWAY

In the family of LeFrak City in Corona Queens, celebration of Christmas holiday took on more of a “Unity” mood as one of their long-time community activist and advocate Mr. Jim Galloway passed away few months ago at the height of the pandemic but not from the pandemic, he was a compassionate leader who loved blessing children in the community annually by raising funds to purchase and host toy giveaways. Dr. George Onuorah, CEO of FSCDI Inc was delighted to join in honoring the memory of Jim Galloway at the premises of Silver Spoon Diner, Elmhurst, Queens NY Sunday, Dec. 20.

Mr. Galloway played many pivotal roles to make our community a better place for all irrespective of where you come from or nationality. His long list of selfless service run an entire gamut. His impact from organizing children programs, After School Program, Senior Program -Margie Riley Memorial, Annual Children Holiday Toy Drives, Christmas Spectacular Trips to Rockefeller Center with kids, LeFrak City Tenants League 1, LeFrak City Merchant Association, and was once President LCTA. Jim single-handedly organized Annual LeFrak City Children Halloween Parade.

The Foundation for sustainable Community Development Initiative, Inc FSCDI a nonprofit organization hold a toy giveaway every year to put smiles on the faces of kids. While this pandemic upended the grand event normally held at the Queens Public Library at LeFrak City, the fact it was still held was a testament to the resolve and commitment of many who joined in this effort to make it a huge success.

Dr. George Onuorah the CEO of Foundation for Sustainable Community Development Initiative, Inc, said the goal of our joining hands to honor the life and legacy of Mr. Galloway was to perpetuate the vision, passion and advocacy which the late Mr. Galloway embodies and commended Ms. Michelle Dunston, Ms. Sylvia Martin, Malika Shabaaz and the entire LeFrak City community of Corona to honor his legacy and keep his memory evergreen. The owner of Silver Spoon diner George Rakitzis was gracious enough to allow the use of his space to honor Mr. Galloway.

Others whose generous support helped power this children holiday toy giveaway initiative included Queens Center Mall, Vicki Schneps CEO of Schneps media, and the Office of Scott Stringer who is current New York City Comptroller.

Dr. George Onuorah a long- time resident of LeFrak City community and served on the Community Board #4 with support of community has submitted a proposal for CB #4 to honor Mr. Galloway for his tireless dedication for the over 5000 Families in LeFrak City by Co-Naming 57th Avenue or portions of it in Mr. Jim Galloway’s honor.

Foundation Celebrate Workers at Harlem Hospital

On Wednesday, December 9 healthcare workers at NYC Health + Hospital / Harlem especially those who sacrificed and made sure our communities stay safe especially during this Covid19 pandemic received well deserved recognition from an organization whose mission is promoting quality healthcare. Who does not agree that it’s great to give due to those whose dues are due. Who can argue many lives were saved because
of the dedication of many hospital staff, many of whom work at Harlem Hospital.

Foundation for Sustainable Community Development Initiative Inc, FSCDI Inc a nonprofit whose mission is to empower and strengthen communities on a local and global level, especially Africa, helping them engage in economic sustainability that will foster development and long term positive changes in the communities we serve.

If health is considered wealth, we all have not just a duty to find it and at Harlem Hospital, there staff are doing their best to see to the maintenance of quality healthcare for patients and the community they serve.

In Corona, Queens, NY, FSCDI Inc annually support kids with backpacks before they return to school in the fall. Also every December with the help of partners we hold Children Holiday Toy Giveaway giving away toys to hundreds of kids putting smiles on their faces. During those happy events, the joy and smiles we see in kids faces can only be described as “unbelievable”

This year because of the pandemic, we found ourselves in a quagmire as we are hoping those who feel a need to support us can still do so. On Sunday, December 20, from 11am to 3pm, we have scheduled to still see what we can have donated or task ourselves to make this Christmas a happy one for the kids. Many parents are facing difficult times and struggling to make it and hardly thinking about toys for the kids. Our organization can always see how we fill the void.

By the same token, we hope 2021 will see a turning of the page especially with this unfortunate pandemic for we cannot afford to compromise on a better future for our kids who are the next generation.

Unfortunately, during this pandemic, some of the programs we do for kids never happened due to shortage of funds.
Every Fall semester, we source and donate backpacks and school supplies to kids returning back to school and during
December holidays we hold children toy giveaways,

Once again, this year 2020 because of Covid-19 we were not able to create the usual excitement for the kids.

On this we are appealing to all of our supporters and partners to support us by donating to help the kids.
No amount is small Donate any amount from $10 $20 $30 $40 $50 $100 $200

Thank you so much for your support.
