08/14/2024
It is with a myriad of emotions that we announce the closure of The Porch Pantry at the end of 2024. For over 4 years, we have been proud to serve our neighbors in need, providing food & support during challenging times. Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, donors & supporters, we have been able to make a meaningful impact in our community. For that we are grateful.
As both the demand for our services & our volunteer availability has decreased, we feel that the time is right to bring this chapter to a close. The reduction in need is a positive sign, showing the resilience & post-Covid recovery of our community, but it also means that our role has changed. We have made the difficult decision to cease our services by year’s end.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to every volunteer, donor, & partner who has been part of this amazing journey. Your dedication has made a lasting difference in the lives of many & has shown what like-minded community members can accomplish when they have a common goal.
Thank you all for your unwavering support. So many wonderful people & organizations have helped us through our 4+ years, but we would be remiss if we did not specifically acknowledge the unwavering efforts of Glen Cove City Councilwoman, Danielle Fugazy Scagliola. Since The Porch Pantry’s inception, Danielle has secured over $40K dollars in donations, being the driving force for allowing us to serve our community for this long. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts.
Though we are closing our doors, the spirit of community & care will continue to thrive. If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, we will be providing a list of other local resources to ensure everyone remains supported.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Kim, Kit & Kirsten
