As we prepare to close our doors at the end of the year, we want to share our deepest gratitude with everyone who has made the Porch Pantry possible over the past four years.

To our incredible volunteers—you have been the heart and soul of this mission. From identifying families in need to packing bags and making deliveries, your dedication and compassion have touched countless lives and made all the difference.

To our generous donors, your unwavering support has been truly life-changing. This holiday season, because of you, we were able to deliver groceries to every family we serve—a meaningful and fitting way to close this chapter.

A special thank you to Danielle Fugazy Scagliola, Glen Cove City Councilwoman. Her leadership, tireless efforts, and unmatched generosity raised more funds than anyone else, leaving an indelible mark on our community and the Porch Pantry’s mission.

To everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you for your kindness, your support, and your belief in what we could accomplish together. You’ve made a difference that will continue to inspire for years to come.

It’s been an honor,
Kim, Kirsten, and Kit ❤️

It is with a myriad of emotions that we announce the closure of The Porch Pantry at the end of 2024. For over 4 years, we have been proud to serve our neighbors in need, providing food & support during challenging times. Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, donors & supporters, we have been able to make a meaningful impact in our community. For that we are grateful.

As both the demand for our services & our volunteer availability has decreased, we feel that the time is right to bring this chapter to a close. The reduction in need is a positive sign, showing the resilience & post-Covid recovery of our community, but it also means that our role has changed. We have made the difficult decision to cease our services by year’s end.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to every volunteer, donor, & partner who has been part of this amazing journey. Your dedication has made a lasting difference in the lives of many & has shown what like-minded community members can accomplish when they have a common goal.

Thank you all for your unwavering support. So many wonderful people & organizations have helped us through our 4+ years, but we would be remiss if we did not specifically acknowledge the unwavering efforts of Glen Cove City Councilwoman, Danielle Fugazy Scagliola. Since The Porch Pantry’s inception, Danielle has secured over $40K dollars in donations, being the driving force for allowing us to serve our community for this long. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts.

Though we are closing our doors, the spirit of community & care will continue to thrive. If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, we will be providing a list of other local resources to ensure everyone remains supported.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Kim, Kit & Kirsten

A quick shout out to our friends at the Glen Cove YMCA and all the little kiddos who went above and beyond for this year’s holiday food drive!

Every year they help stock our shelves and provide our little food pantry with enough food to ensure no local family goes without this holiday break. Not only helping provide a healthy Thanksgiving meal but also helping provide enough food for family’s who rely on a school lunch and need a little extra help during holiday break!

“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” – John Bunyan

My favorite people are those who work quietly and consistently behind the scenes to help others and never once ask for anything in return. It shows me everything I need to know about that individual and our community has no shortage of my kind of people.

On behalf of the Porch Pantry we would like to say thank you to our anonymous donor of the incredibly generous donation of $5000 to help support local families in urgent need.

And Thank you Danielle Fugazy Scagliola, Glen Cove City Council for facilitating and understanding the importance of building relationships, connecting people, and creating a more inclusive and secure environment for all.
