Visual artist and Asylum alum Raya Bruckenthal's solo exhibition "The Vessel Bearers" is now on view at Maya Gallery in Tel Aviv.

The exhibition constitutes another chapter in her ongoing investigation of the religious experience—specifically the material and aesthetic aspects of Orthodox Judaism—approached from a position of both curiosity and critique. In this exhibition, she returns to courageous questions regarding the connection between sanctity and spiritual practice and aesthetic pleasure and material wealth—questions that seem particularly relevant today. Her work involves the formal deconstruction of imagery from diverse sources, both religious and secular, and their reassembly on paper through intense, multi-layered pencil drawings.

This Monday, October 6, 2025, Sukkot in The Neighborhood (Asylum Arts' new home) is back for its third year - an eight-day celebration of arts, culture, and spirituality, taking place in an art installation Sukkah. This year, we’re presenting a Sukkah created by artist and Artist Working Group participant Susan Stainman. Stainman’s Structures of Welcoming is inspired by the holiday's tradition of welcoming ancestors, referencing radical, cultural, and mystical lineages within Jewish history.

The first night will be devoted to a ritual of welcoming/art activation. This communal practice will draw on Jewish ideas of welcoming ancestors, strangers, and one another, led by Susan Stainman. Together, we will meditate, sing, and share space with intentions of cultivating love and hospitality. This is your chance to explore the Sukkah alongside the artist.

Swipe through to see all the activations and events for this year's Sukkot in The Neighborhood festival.

New Year in The Neighborhood is our first ever Rosh Hashanah family service, presented in partnership with Fig Tree, B’nai Brooklyn, and Moxy Brooklyn Williamsburg.

Join us alongside meditation teacher Alison Laichter and our ritual team for a morning experience created especially to be experienced by families together. This program invites people of all ages to renew and reflect, while setting intentions for a year of sweetness ahead. Expect kid-friendly meditation, music, storytelling, and spiritual play. Together, we’ll dream toward a new year of peace, love, silliness, connection, and delight.

At Catskills, BK: Dirtier Dancing we’re serving up free egg creams with our good friends from The Brooklyn Seltzer Museum. If you’re not familiar, the egg cream is one of the Jews’ many culinary gifts to New York City. Featuring neither eggs nor cream, this delicious beverage consists of the improbable combination of milk, chocolate syrup, and seltzer. Our egg creams will be made from the finest seltzer Brooklyn has to offer, siphoned fresh by the Brooklyn Seltzer Boys. Buy a ticket now at the link in our bio!
