Stay to learn about this monthโ€™s small biz being highlighted: ๐ŸฅŸ

ABC7 just aired it: Independent air quality monitors near Chinatownโ€™s jail site registered higher air pollution levels vs. all of NYC during demolition. Whatโ€™s most alarming is what the news team didnโ€™t have time to cover. ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿšจย 25% of the time thru 2023, the Cityโ€™s own monitors werenโ€™t recording and data just went โ€œmissingโ€ โ€ฆ these windows lined up with when there were pollution spikes.

๐ŸšจThe City reported no violations during demolition. But when the Cityโ€™s threshold is 3x HIGHER than WHO health guidelines, is this actually clean, safe air weโ€™re breathing?

A neighborhood thatโ€™s still living with legacy 9/11 dust exposure health issues endured all of demolition and now will breathe in 7+ years of construction dust.

Ask Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani Speaker Julie Menin and NYC DDC toย re-evaluate this site and determine whether safe construction can realistically be completed hereโ€ฆ

๐ŸŽคย Heard in Chinatown: Part Two

Weโ€™re back with more words that donโ€™t translate. We asked small business owners for one word, one phrase in their native languageโ€ฆ.. something with no direct English translation, something that captures how they think about work, their values, their identity.
Language holds what translation loses. These are the words that carry generations of culture, family, and meaningโ€ฆ straight from those living it today.

Meet Ben, mastermind behind 3 Dishes. Three years ago, he left his finance career to build a business based on the food he grew up on in Taiwan: rice, one protein, and veggie sides.

Simple, balanced, made with care. Thatโ€™s the philosophy behind 3 Dishes, inspired by ไธ‰่œไธ€ๆนฏ (โ€œThree Dishes, One Soupโ€), and inspired by Benโ€™s healthcare recovery journey in 2023.

Now, heโ€™s popping up at The Hub (115 Bowery) this Thursday, June 18 from 11amโ€“2pm, so come through for your share of Taiwanese comfort food. Check the link in bio for details!
