Hola Latinx Familia!

As many of you know already, this year the Latinx Caucus will be participating in a People of Color Graduation in collaboration with the Black, API and International Caucus. This post is to inform graduating second year students intending to participate in the POC graduation of the need to register. Those who have already registered, thank you for doing so, you can disregard this message. For those who have not, please find the instructions on how to register below:

In order to participate and guarantee your spot in this celebration you must:

1. Register for the event at:

Here you will find information on the program, location, and time. You MUST register and list how many guests you're bringing. Unfortunately, you can only bring up to three guests, as the venue has limited space. If you require more guests, please coordinate with other fellow graduates to figure out how many tickets they will be using.

2. Next, you must pay for your ticket at:

The cost $32.17 will include your graduation stole and dinner for you and your guests.

3. The deadline to register for graduation is March 15th. This is a hard deadline unless otherwise noted by administration. As of now, this deadline is set, PLEASE plan and register accordingly.

The API, Latinx and Black Caucuses are planning a joint graduation ceremony for graduates of color. In order to secure and confirm your participation, you must confirm your participation and pay a fee of $30.00 by March 15th at 12:00 PM NOON. Attention Latinx Second Years! We need your insight and help in a very important matter regarding graduation. If you all plan on participating in an affinity graduation we need your insight! Although students are provided a traditional Columbia graduation,, affinity group graduations are held to celebrate its' rich diversity, and bring together their family, friends and community. We'd like to include the student body and caucus member feedback for the graduation planning process.

Hola Latinx Familia!
An email went out today announcing the National Association of Puerto Rican and Hispanic Social Workers Scholarship with instructions on how to apply and the application itself. As one of the two current CSSW recipients, I STRONGLY encourage all eligible Latinx first years to apply! This is an amazing opportunity and a great organization composed of extremely knowledgeable Latinx social workers who are passionate about the work they do. I know we have a lot of school work to do and that the scholarship itself is not due until February 2019 but it never hurts to start thinking about it and even drafting your essay! Put it in your calendars and pay attention to the deadline! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! ¡Vamos con todo!
