📣 It's not too late to speak up. Urge the Senate to protect school meals and SNAP in the Farm Bill!

The Farm Bill has moved to the Senate, and this is a critical moment to take action. As families continue to face high food costs, school meals help keep students nourished, healthy, and ready to learn.

SNAP plays a vital role in connecting eligible students to free school meals through direct certification and helps schools use the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to offer free breakfast and lunch to every student. Protecting these programs keeps nutritious meals accessible, reduces administrative burdens for schools, and helps ensure more resources go toward feeding kids—not paperwork.

Yesterday, FoodCorps Kindred Fellows and staff hit Capitol Hill!

We visited 21 congressional offices to advocate for policies that help students learn, eat, and thrive. By sharing firsthand experiences from schools, cafeterias, gardens, and local food systems, we helped lawmakers better understand the real-world impact of their decisions on local communities.

We are urging Congress to champion policies that ensure every student has access to nourishing meals, hands-on food education, and strong school food systems. Advocacy like this takes all of us—and you don’t need to be in Washington, D.C. to make a difference.

Take 2 minutes to contact your members of Congress and remind them why nourishing school meals matter: https://foodcorps.quorum.us/campaign/163690/
