School meal programs across the country are facing serious financial challenges as food, labor, transportation, and operating costs continue to rise – and funding isn't keeping up.

But there's already federal funding that could help. With excess Section 32 funds projected to be available during the current federal budget year, USDA and OMB have an opportunity to direct those dollars toward helping schools cover the rising cost of serving meals.

📣 Tell your members of Congress to urge the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the USDA to use available Section 32 funds to provide emergency support for school meals.

Big school food news! 🚨The Healthy Meals Help Kids Learn Act was recently introduced by Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Andy Kim (D-N.J.) to help schools keep up with the rising costs of serving nutritious meals.

Stronger reimbursement rates can give schools more resources to invest in school meals, including serving more locally sourced foods, supporting scratch cooking, upgrading kitchen equipment, and strengthening the overall school meal experience.
