We have brought crucial medical and dental care to the remote Siona communities of the Cuyabeno rainforest region since 2001. We are excited to be adding workshops on preventing childhood malnutrion, sanitation in food preparation, and healthy eating. Thank you for helping us to make it happen!

Our Next Cotacachi Workshop: The Ceremony of Wasi Pichay

We invite you to be part of a unique experience of connection with the Andean cosmovision and ancestral Kichwa wisdom. In this upcoming session, we will explore Wasi Pichay, meaning “house cleaning.” More than a simple act of tidying, Wasi Pichay is a ceremonial purification of space — a practice that invites harmony, balance, and positive energy into one’s environment.
Participants will learn about the significance, elements, concepts, and ceremonial process of Wasi Pichay as it is practiced in Kichwa communities. It promises to be a powerful and immersive experience.

We just learned that transportation costs for our medical/dental/nutrition brigade to the Cuyabeno region of the Amazon rainforest have increased by at least $1,200 since last year! With less than three weeks to go until the brigade, we are looking for additional donations. 🌟 Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteer, Angie Padilla Chachiguango! 🌟

This week, Angie is representing Ecuador with pride at the Model United Nations in New York City, and we couldn’t be more inspired by her dedication and leadership.

On top of her hard work at MUN, Angie is also carrying 100 water filters back to Ecuador on behalf of the Wichana Foundation.
These filters will be donated to communities that urgently need access to clean, safe drinking water — a simple tool that can change lives.

Angie, thank you for your commitment, your heart, and your willingness to go the extra mile for others. Your actions remind us what true service looks like.

Let’s all cheer her on as she shines in New York and continues making a difference back home. 💙🌍💧

Westchester New York - Weaving the Future: Community Workshop on Kichwa Textile Traditions

In the Andes, textile traditions are an invaluable repository of knowledge, philosophy, and ancestral guidance transmitted from generation to generation. Locally, cultural bearers of the Kichwa Ecuadorian migrant community maintain the legacy of hand-spinning, natural dyeing, and weaving. Join us for an interactive traditional arts workshop facilitated by local Ecuadorian artisans and knowledge keepers. We will explore textile traditions as pillars of Andean spirituality, wellbeing, and intergenerational healing.

This program is presented by the Sapiyay Collective (www.sapiyay.org), Wichana Foundation (www.wichana.org), SARUSA (Saraguro Residents in the United States of America) with support from ArtsWestchester.

"This project is made possible in part with funding from Arts Alive, a grant program of ArtsWestchester supported by the Governor's Office, the New York State Legislature, and the New York State Council on the Arts."
