👥✨ Este es el equipo de hombres y mujeres Kichwas que conformamos el Centro Cultural Muyumi Kanki y la Fundación Wichana.. Nos une una certeza: cuando la cultura de nuestras comunidades hermanas se fortalece, el presente se llena de vida y todo nuestro pueblo encuentra su equilibrio.

🌾✊ Nuestra labor en Piñán nace del respeto absoluto. Caminar junto a ellos nos demuestra que cuando una comunidad recupera su voz, su lengua y su danza, sana de forma colectiva. Tras una profunda etapa de escucha y diagnóstico, la siembra en el territorio empieza a dar frutos.

👣🔥 ¡Nos preparamos para un paso definitivo! Este proyecto de revitalización cultural entra con fuerza en su segunda fase... y el eco del zapateo ya se empieza a sentir en lo alto del páramo.

🌱 Celebrate and Explore Kichwa Culture - Saturday June 6th & Wednesday June 10th in Cotacachi 🌱

If you are in the Cotacachi area, you are invited to join us at two upcoming cultural events.

We have told you about our growing relationship with Piñán, a remote Kichwa community in the Cotacachi Canton. The community has expressed deep concern about the loss of their cultural traditions as elders pass away. They have asked our partners at the Kichwa Cultural Center Muyumi Kanki to assist with the planning of traditional Inti Raymi and other Kichwa celebrations to help restore these important rituals and reinforce cultural identity for future generations.

🌈We invite you to the Fundraising Event to support the families of the Piñán community, who safeguard an invaluable cultural heritage. Today we come together in a great Cultural Minga to revitalize their ancestral clothing, their music, and the knowledge passed down from generation to generation. It’s not just a day to donate — it’s a day to celebrate our identity!

We are running very low on funds for the regular medical visits to the remote, rural homes of our elderly and disabled patients in the Mojandita Curubí area. We receive most of the donations for this initiative in December and January so by mid-year we need to reach out asking for your help again. Please donate if you can.

Our cross‑cultural workshops, led by the Kichwa Cultural Center Muyumi Kanki, are essential for helping Kichwa culture flourish. They are designed to share the ancestral knowledge of the Kichwa communities of Cotacachi with people from diverse backgrounds, fostering understanding, respect, and connection.

This is a rare opportunity to connect across cultures, learn from ancestral knowledge, and experience the living cosmovision of the Andes. Our heartfelt thanks to the Andean Gardens Cultural Center for hosting.

🌿 Nearly seven years ago, we founded the Wichana Foundation with a simple belief: lasting change is possible when communities lead the way. Since then, our work has expanded far beyond what we imagined — thanks to supporters like you and the dedication of talented community leaders and volunteers.

Today, we’re taking two major steps toward meeting our medium‑term goals. To get there, we’re making two strategic investments — and we’re asking for your support to help make them possible.

1️⃣ Establishing a New Ecuador-based Wichana Foundation

To meet our goal of building a sustainable organization led by indigenous women community leaders in Ecuador, we are creating a sister foundation based in Ecuador. This new entity will expand our project funding opportunities and streamline essential local operations such as banking and administrative processes. To complete the legalization process — including legal fees, government registration, and administrative costs — we estimate $4,000–$5,000 is needed.

2️⃣ Finalizing our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) System

After some stumbles, we are in the final stages of developing an EMR system that will significantly improve the quality, coordination, and continuity of care we provide. This system will support both the Mojandita Curubí Health Center and our mobile brigades. To fully implement it, we need approximately $7,500 for programming, software licensing, and essential hardware.

These investments aren’t just operational upgrades — they are foundational improvements that will strengthen our infrastructure, increase our efficiency, and ultimately allow us to better meet the needs of the communities we serve.
