Most students are starting to settle into their first few weeks of school. Here are 5 tips from NDLSA for back to school season.

(1) Meet with Your School’s Disability Services - Meet with your school’s Disability Services office to familiarize yourself with their processes. Every school is different, and knowing how to submit documentation, request classroom adjustments, or schedule testing accommodations ahead of time can save you stress later in the semester.

(2) Start Early! - Meeting with Disability Services at the beginning of the term ensures your professors are aware of your needs from day one, reduces last-minute stress, & gives you time to adjust.

(3) Build a Support Network - Connect with your school’s DLSA or disability community to find peers who understand your experiences. Reach out to professors, mentors, and allies who can provide guidance and encouragement. And don’t forget to nurture connections outside of law school. Friends, family, and community groups can help keep you grounded.

(4) Prioritize Self-Care - Building small habits like scheduling breaks, protecting your sleep, and doing things that bring you joy will help you stay balanced through the semester. Taking care of yourself makes your success sustainable.

(5) Use NDLSA as a Resource! - NDLSA is here to support disabled law students across the country with resources, mentorship, community, and advocacy. From learning how to request accommodations, to connecting with your school’s DLSA, to finding national community and leadership opportunities, NDLSA exists to make sure you have the tools and support you need to thrive.

(Link in Bio) This 🩵 Giving Tuesday🩵, I invite you to join the National Disabled Law Students Association (NDLSA) in helping disabled law students across the country. This year we seek to send law students to attend the Jacobus tenBroek Disability Law Symposium. Last year we sent nine students. This year we want to send more!

Disabled law students often face many challenges in their education and careers. NDLSA works hard to tackle these with policy changes, awareness campaigns, and support programs.

Your donation, no matter the amount, can give students access to this vital event focused on disability law, advocacy, and policy. Can’t donate but want to help? Share this post! 🩵

Apologies for the late post, we are operating on Crip Time. However, we would LOVE for everyone to join us tomorrow to learn about updates from NDLSA, hear about member orgs and student concerns and talk about advocacy. NDLSA recognizes it is a difficult time this week. However, we also know that community building and support will continue to protect our most vulnerable communities. We invite everyone to come participate in this community building at our Town Hall.
