My name is Bennett Reiss. I am a man on a journey to live a healthy, mindful and grounded life. I am grateful to be alive and in recovery. My passion is to help people explore the world in a safe, holistic, spiritual way. Prior to entering recovery I traveled extensively throughout Latin America, Asia and Europe. I also lived abroad many years circa 2006 – 2012 in Latin America and Asia. In 2013-2014 I went through an existential, mental, spiritual and physical transformation. I underwent a brain operation due to inflammation in my brain, underwent two hip replacements. I re-connected with a higher power and the spiritual side of myself I had long abandoned. I got clean from drugs and alcohol and began my journey of rediscovering who I am. I decided to establish Kipu Life because I sincerely believe that learning and experiencing new places in the world has a healing, enriching power that you can not find anywhere else or duplicate. As a person in long term recovery I also know that traveling to foreign lands breeds some of the most tempting opportunities for indulging in character defects, alcohol, drugs, s*x and food to name a few. This does not mean we should not travel and see the world! Traveling allows us to learn about new cultures and ways of life. It opens our eyes and reinforces what we learn in recovery — to accept our fellow brothers and sisters for who they are. The world is reaching a tipping point where we must learn to understand and accept one another or else we face dire circumstances – war, poverty, disease, environmental collapse and much more. Our trips are planned to avoid the temptations of alcohol, drugs and other vices often pushed on tourists. You can not erase the footprints of the past, but you can forge a new path. I hope you will join Kipu Life on one of our upcoming trips and experience a small corner of the world in a unique, safe way.
