Our soon to be director of environment committee Keelyn Gilbert, pending her 18th birthday. During the interim, she has not been dormant. She designed and created a community garden as part of her scout activities. It is an important step toward receiving her Eagle Scout Merit Badge. When she turns 18, she will become a member of the TNT Lions Club and director of our environment committee and the community garden will become a project of the TNT Lions Club and Lions Club International.

On Friday June 26, some of our Lions handed out personal hygiene and diaper needs at The Diaper Dash, its a free, drive-thru community resource event hosted by the Claiborne County Family Justice Center (FJC) to help support local families with young children and relieve some of their financial burdens.

Recently the Town of New Tazewell was hit by a tornado. Several businesses received damage. One such business was the Regional Education Center which received broken windows, water damage, and loss of products. REC is a 501c6 non-profit which provides food, clothing, disaster relier, and educational opportunities to those in need in our community. Being an essential community service, REC ahered to the disaster relief guidelines for Lions Club International. The Tazewell-New Tazewell Lions Club applied for a disaster relief grant to help with the loses suffered from this natural disaster.

This past Friday, June 19 TNT Lions Club was honored to provide thousands of dollars in product replacement and repair to this outstanding community organization. We want to give a heart felt thank you to Lions Club International, Lions Club Region 12N, and members of the TNT Lions Club especially our treasurer Lion Ian Kirkpatrick.

It was our pleasure to be of service by providing disaster relief to our community that will benefit hundreds of our local citizens.
