From Carnegie Hall rehearsals to a Times Square performance! đź’ś

On Saturday, 100 NJYC choristers performed alongside members of the world-renowned Berliner Philharmoniker at Borussia Dortmund’s World Street Series. The celebration brought music, soccer, and community together, culminating in “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” with our singers proudly raising their BVB scarves.

An unforgettable highlight of our 35th anniversary season! Thank you to Borussia Dortmund, the BVB Foundation, Street Soccer USA, and the Berliner Philharmoniker for making this experience possible.

Please join us in welcoming Melissa Hughes as the new Primo Coro Director for New Jersey Youth Chorus! đź’ś

Melissa is a music educator, mezzo-soprano, and adjunct professor at Montclair State University. She also directs a middle school choral program of more than 400 students.

Her teaching philosophy pairs strong music theory skills with a playful, student-centered approach that helps young singers grow as performers and take ownership of their learning. Melissa believes every student can find their voice, both in music and beyond, and we’re excited for our Primo Coro singers to learn and grow with her this season!
