This is what mental health awareness looks like in action. ๐Ÿ’š
Today, Duck Cup Memorial was proud to sponsor the Rice County Mental Health Walk alongside our community partners. We helped Rice County Friendship House cover the space and resources that made this event possible for everyone who came out.

The community showed up BIG:
๐ŸŽต Special performances from & Tesfa Yohannes Wondemagegnehu singing "This Land is Your Land" and "This Little Light of Mine"
๐Ÿฆ Ice cream social donated by Fareway Stores Faribault
๐Ÿ’™ Rice County Supportive Decision Making staff and Horizon Homes providing resources and support
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Community members walking together - half a mile of solidarity
This is prevention in action. This is breaking stigma. This is showing up for mental health in our community - not with big words, but with action. Conversations. Connection. Ice cream. Music. Walking together.

Thank you to Rice County Friendship House for organizing this beautiful event, to our fellow organizations for partnering with us, and to everyone who walked, performed, and showed up today.
When we walk together, we send a powerful message: You're not alone. Mental health matters. And we're here.

The struggle is part of the story. ๐Ÿ’š

Mental Health Awareness Month isn't about pretending everything is fine or hiding the hard parts. It's about acknowledging that struggle is real, it's valid, and it's part of every person's journey.
Your struggle doesn't make your story less worthy. It makes it real.
The anxiety that kept you up at night. The depression that made getting out of bed feel impossible. The panic attacks that came out of nowhere. The days you didn't think you'd make it. The therapy sessions. The medication adjustments. The conversations where you finally admitted you weren't okay.
Those are all part of your story too.
And your story matters.

Mental Health Awareness Month is about:
Normalizing struggle instead of hiding it
Recognizing that hard doesn't mean broken
Celebrating survival and recovery
Making space for people still in the struggle
Understanding that everyone's fighting something

If you're in the struggle right now - the hard part of your story - know that it doesn't define you. It's shaping you. And there's help available.
You don't have to figure it out alone.
You don't have to be "fixed" to deserve support.
You don't have to wait until things get worse.
Your struggle is part of your story.
Your story is worth telling.
And you're worth fighting for.

Meet Kate Deutsch of Biscotti Designs - an incredibly talented artist, small business owner, and longtime supporter of Duck Cup Memorial. Kate is married to one of our founding board members, and her commitment to our mission runs deep - rooted in love for her husband and the friends who founded this organization in memory of someone they lost to su***de.

This May, Kate is giving back in a beautiful way.
She's created a Mental Health Awareness Card Bundle featuring her stunning original artwork - 10 cards total (2 of each design) with messages of hope, strength, and encouragement. Think Mr. Rogers quotes, affirmations, and reminders that you matter.

Here's the incredible part: 50% of all sales from this bundle will be donated to mental health organizations - including Duck Cup Memorial and Kendall's Kindness.

Why we love Kate's work:
Her artwork is gorgeous - vibrant, meaningful, and perfect for sending encouragement to someone who needs it (or keeping for yourself as daily reminders). Beyond this bundle, she creates custom paintings and her signature "itty bitty" note cards that pack big impact in tiny packages.

This is what community looks like: A small business owner using her talent to support mental health awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month, all while honoring the mission her family helped build.

Believe young people when they say they're struggling - don't minimize their problems or compare their experiences to your own youth. Help them access therapy without shame, model asking for help yourself, and create space for honest conversations where they feel safe opening up.

They're not 'too young' to struggle. They're struggling - and they deserve support.
This is why we bring mental health education into schools. Prevention starts with young people knowing they're not alone and that help is available.

Mental health doesn't clock out at 5pm. ๐Ÿ’ผ

Workplace stress, burnout, anxiety, and depression don't stay home when you go to work. And workplaces have a responsibility to support employee mental health.

Constant exhaustion despite adequate sleep

Dreading work to the point of physical symptoms

You spend most of your waking hours at work. If that environment is damaging your mental health, that's not sustainable.
Mental health support shouldn't be a "perk" - it should be standard. And taking a mental health day shouldn't require lying about being physically sick.

Self-care isn't selfish. It's survival. ๐ŸŒฟ

If you're running on empty, you can't show up for anyone - including yourself. Taking care of your mental health isn't optional. It's essential.

You can't pour from an empty cup. You can't care for others if you're not caring for yourself.
Taking care of your mental health benefits everyone around you - because you show up healthier, more present, and more capable of genuine connection.
Self-care isn't selfish. It's how you survive.

What's one way you're caring for your mental health this week?
