💜 September is Su***de Prevention Month
September is a time to pause, remember, educate ourselves, and—most importantly—take action.
In 2024, Pasco County recorded 106 deaths by su***de.
Behind every number was a person who mattered. And behind every person were family members, friends, coworkers and communities left to navigate the devastating impact of su***de loss.
At the Bobby White Foundation, Inc., we believe su***de prevention is more than recognizing a crisis. It is about creating communities where people feel seen, heard, supported and safe enough to ask for help.
Our mission was born from loss.
Bobby's death changed our family forever, but it also became the reason we continue working to bring HOPE to others.
Through su***de prevention education, mental wellness awareness, HOPE Support, grief support for survivors of su***de loss, community outreach and our HOPE In The Light Of Su***de show, we are working to turn awareness into action and loss into purpose.
And every one of us can play a part.
💜 Check on someone you care about.
💜 Ask the question—and really listen to the answer.
💜 Learn the warning signs.
💜 Talk openly about mental health and su***de.
💜 Encourage someone to seek professional support.
💜 Be there for those grieving a su***de loss.
💜 Help create a community where asking for help is met with compassion, not judgment.
You don't have to have all the answers. Sometimes simply being present can make a difference.
There are resources available, including NAMI and other local and national organizations. And 988 is available 24/7 by call or text for anyone experiencing a mental health or su***de crisis, or for those concerned about someone they love.
💜 Art for Hope — September 10
On World Su***de Prevention Day, we will gather for our 9th Annual Art for Hope.
Art for Hope brings together art, community, conversation and HOPE while supporting the ongoing work of the Bobby White Foundation.
Because we believe that beautiful things can grow from painful places.
We cannot change the past.
But together, we can change what happens next.
For those we have lost.
For those who are struggling.
For those who are grieving.
For those who need to know they are not alone.
Let's talk. Let's listen. Let's reach out. Let's choose HOPE.
💜 Hope begins with a conversation.
If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for support.
