πŸŽ₯ Man Share Monday

A little trip down memory lane this week! This interview with Detective Morris was one of the very first Man Share Monday videos we recorded.

You might notice we've polished things up a bit since then, but the message is just as important today as it was when we started: honest conversations matter.

Thank you to Detective Morris for helping us kick off this project and for sharing his perspective. Give it a watch and let us know what resonates with you.

Man Share Monday πŸ’¬

June is Men's Health Month, and this week we're featuring David Rutter, Dover High School Orchestra Director.

As an educator, mentor, and role model, David shared the importance of demonstrating positive mental health strategies for the people around us. One message that stood out from our conversation was that more is caught than taught. The way we manage stress, navigate challenges, and care for ourselves often teaches more than our words ever could.

We also talked about the familiar oxygen mask analogy: before we can effectively support others, we need to make sure we're taking care of ourselves. Self-care isn't selfish, it's what allows us to show up for the people who depend on us.

Thank you, David, for sharing your perspective and reminding us that healthy coping, self-awareness, and asking for support when needed are powerful examples to set for others.

Trauma is more common than many people realize, and its effects can last long after the event itself has passed.

June is PTSD Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind people that healing is possible.

PTSD can affect anyone who has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. While everyone's experience is different, one thing remains true: connection matters.

Supportive relationships, safe spaces, and a caring community can play an important role in healing. A simple check-in, a listening ear, or letting someone know they're not alone can make a meaningful difference.

We know that prevention starts with connection. This month, we encourage you to learn more about PTSD, extend compassion to those around you, and help create a community where people feel supported and understood.

If you or someone you know needs support:

Healing doesn't mean forgetting what happened. It means finding hope, support, and strength as you move forward. πŸ’œ

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

We believe everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, supported, and connected.

Pride Month is a celebration, but it's also a reminder that LGBTQ+ individuals- especially youth- face unique challenges that can impact their mental health. One caring adult, one supportive friend, one welcoming community can make all the difference.

That's why su***de prevention is everyone's responsibility. We can all help create a community where people know they belong, just as they are.

This month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and diversity of our LGBTQ+ community while continuing to promote hope, connection, and support for all.

Since June is Men's Health Awareness Month, it felt like the perfect time to sit down with Josh Cottrell, Mentoring and Family Support Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters, dad, and foster parent.

Our conversation covered something that sounds simple, but can be really difficult in practice: reaching out when you're struggling. Josh shares why connection matters and why asking for help is often one of the strongest things we can do.

We also talked about the importance of regulating our own nervous systems before jumping in to help everyone else. As parents, caregivers, friends, and helpers, many of us are quick to support others while putting ourselves at the bottom of the list. The reality is that we can show up better for the people who depend on us when we take care of ourselves, too.

Whether that's taking a walk, talking to someone you trust, getting outside, taking a few deep breaths, or simply recognizing that you're having a tough day, small steps matter.

πŸŽ₯ Check out Josh's interview below and hear his thoughts on connection, self-care, and the importance of reaching out.

Because no one is meant to carry life's challenges alone.

And a gentle reminder from two people who spend a lot of time helping others: taking care of yourself isn't a luxury- it's part of the job description. πŸ’™
