Love on a Leash – St.

Tammany is a local chapter of the national organization called Love on a Leash. We are a group of dedicated pet owners and their pets who volunteer their time to bring a moment of joy to the residents of our parish. Our goal is to provide interactions with our animals that will enhance people’s quality of life. Tammany offers unconditional love and acceptance, asking for nothing in return except praise, pets and an occasional treat.

You and your dog ready to become a therapy team? What do you do?
Control Evaluation Testing (1st step to becoming a certified LOAL team). Where do I find and what do I do with it?
1 - Visit the national website and print out an application formhttps://www.loveonaleash.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Dog-Application-20260101.pdf
2 - Locate a certified animal behaviorist, certified dog trainer, certified obedience instructor, or certified AKC evaluator in your area.
3 - Take pages 5-6 (Control Evaluation) to the evaluator and have them take your dog through the skills tests.
4 - Reach out to our chapter to be added to our email group and setup your first 10 supervised visits (must have signed off Control Evaluation before you can start visits).
You may opt for a certified behaviorist/trainer that you know, or if you don't know of someone, then following is the opportunity to have your dog evaluated for free on Sunday, May 3, 2026 4pm-5pm. Contact Cindi Stone, CPDT-KA at [email protected] to reserve space for your dog's evaluation and to receive information on where the testing will occur.
