“You who live in the shelter of ‘Elyon, who spend your nights in the shadow of Shaddai, who say to Adonai, “My refuge! My fortress! My God, in whom I trust!” — he will rescue you from the trap of the hunter and from the plague of calamities; he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his truth is a shield and protection. You will not fear the terrors of night or the arrow that flies by day, or the plague that roams in the dark, or the scourge that wreaks havoc at noon. Did you know that, in 1855, as the move to outlaw slavery was growing in America, the minister and abolitionist John Sullivan Dwight helped to popularize "O Holy Night" by translating it into English? It became a favorite among abolitionists and we have to say, as modern day abolitionists, it's one of our favorites too. The birth of Jesus represents a beautiful picture of justice for all who are oppressed, a picture of one who would lay down His life so others could be free. We're deeply inspired by His example as we, together with you, continue the relentless pursuit of justice at all costs.
