St. Bernard Art Guild

St. Bernard Art Guild The purpose of the Art Guild is to encourage creativity in and appreciation of the visual arts. All art enthusiasts are welcome to attend.

Meetings are the 2nd Thursday of each month, except July and December, in the AMROC Building at Docville Farm in Meraux. Most monthly meetings include a free art demo. To become a member, sign up at monthly meetings or contact us at [email protected].

Thank you so much to Jan Wilkins for the wonderful workshop yesterday. Everyone had a great time learning all the different techniques of Batik painting and then applying that to their own pieces. It was interesting seeing all of the different styles of each participant. Also thanks to everyone who attended.

June 2026 Newsletter

June was a busy month for the guild! We held officer elections, voted for our new Artist of the Season, and we held our first art show in our new studio. We certainly have a lot to celebrate. Check out the newsletter for details!

Remember, we do not have a meeting in July! Instead, we are hosting a workshop at the studio. Details are in the newsletter and a link to signup is below. There is limited availability, but we do have several spots still open.

Although the spring art show has concluded, we have more exciting events planned for our new art studio. Our next featured event is a watercolor batik workshop led by artist Jan Wilkins. This workshop will explore batik, an ancient Indonesian technique utilizing wax resist to create intricate patterns on fabric (we will be using a type of Japanese paper). Registration deadline is July 4th. We encourage interested participants to sign up promptly to secure a spot.

HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support and celebrate our artists and their artwork, and kudos to all of our category winners and honorable mentions featured in this photo!! Special congrats goes to Frank Calato for winning Best of Show. More details on each of our winners coming soon!

Special Thanks also goes out to the Meraux Foundation and Wendy Haines for providing us with this wonderful studio space, as well as to our judges, board members, members, and volunteers.

The St. Bernard Art Guild had a successful meeting last night, where the 2026 officers were elected and the second quarter Artist of the Season was voted on. Congratulations are extended to Marie Alvarez for her outstanding photography piece featuring a beautiful red cardinal. Additionally, appreciation is expressed to Claire Pescay for providing another exceptional demonstration on painting an apple using flat brushes and acrylics. Everyone’s apples looked great. We have so many talented art guild members.
