Corey Porter, President of the Metropolitan New Orleans Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), calls upon all Americans to pause and reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
On this solemn day, we honor the memory of the thousands of innocent lives lost, the extraordinary bravery of first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the enduring strength of the families and loved ones forever impacted. Their legacy of courage and resilience must remain at the forefront of our nation’s collective memory.
In the years since that tragedy, our country has made significant strides to prevent such an event from ever occurring again. The spirit of collaboration among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies has grown stronger, with increased information-sharing and coordination that have greatly enhanced our ability to protect the homeland.
As we reflect, let us also reaffirm our unity as a nation. September 11th serves as a reminder that, even in the face of unimaginable loss, the American people remain resilient, compassionate, and unwavering in their pursuit of peace and security. May this day inspire us to continue working together to safeguard our communities, honor those we lost, and ensure that their sacrifices were not in vain.
