This summer, our second-year students received their white coats! 🥼

Receiving a white coat symbolizes far more than a new chapter. It represents compassion, dedication, professionalism, and the privilege of serving others.

We are so proud of each of you and all that you’ve accomplished to reach this milestone. Congratulations!! 🤍

Camp Ramp Up was a week full of creativity, collaboration, and meaningful learning! 📚💙

As part of Dr. Lopez’s Language Disorders II course, our second-year students planned and led evidence-based literacy activities for campers across two skill levels. There were groups focused on phonics, fluency, phonological awareness, and sight words, with students creating engaging games, crafts, movement activities, and take-home resources that made learning both effective and fun.

We are so grateful for opportunities like Camp Ramp Up that allow us to learn through hands-on experiences while serving our community. Watching classroom knowledge come to life and helping young readers grow is what makes this field so rewarding. These readers are ready for the new school year! 💛📖

Another semester down! 🎉
Congratulations to our second-years on completing their third clinical rotation!

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the incredible clinical supervisors who invest their time, knowledge, and hearts into mentoring future speech-language pathologists. In a field where dedicated supervisors are more important than ever, we are especially grateful for those who continue to teach, encourage, and inspire the next generation of clinicians.

Thank you to every supervisor who welcomed our students, shared your expertise, and helped shape our future. Your impact extends far beyond one semester, and we are so grateful for all that you do!

You did it!! Congratulations to our first years on finishing anatomy and cadaver lab! 🫀

From long nights of studying to hours spent in the lab, this course challenged you in more ways than one. Along the way came plenty of coffee, shared study guides, and friendships that helped make it through.

A heartfelt thank you to the donors and their families for the incredible gift of donation. Your selfless contribution made this experience possible and played a huge role in our education.

One of the biggest milestones of the first year is officially complete. And a special shoutout to our audiology classmates for experiencing it right alongside us. We’re so proud of all of you!💐

Last week, second-years had the opportunity to learn from three incredible pediatric dysphagia clinicians!

Natalie Alleman, MCD, CCC-SLP, from Ochsner Medical Center’s Cardiovascular PICU, shared her expertise on feeding and swallowing treatment and assessment in the acute inpatient setting.

We also welcomed Cate Bloom, CCC-SLP, CLC, and Simone Laroussini, CCC-SLP, CLC, of Bloom Speech Therapy, who discussed complex pediatric feeding cases, G-tube feeding, and the weaning process in the outpatient setting.

Thank you to our guest speakers for sharing your knowledge and giving us a deeper look into the diverse roles SLPs play in pediatric feeding and swallowing care! 👶🍼🧃
