Student Spotlight!! ⭐️

A look at a first-year student bringing this “Communication Corner: All Hands on Deck” to life at her clinical rotation!

In collaboration with her clinical supervisor, Emily designed and created this interactive resource board to support communication across settings. From pacing boards to themed communication boards and WH-question supports, this space makes strategies accessible, engaging, and easy to use for students, staff, and caregivers.

We love seeing future SLPs take initiative and turn clinical knowledge into meaningful, real-world resources⛵️

Our members came together to donate supplies to a local aphasia support group! Hear from Logan on her experience with the group:

“During my clinical rotation at Touro Inpatient Rehabilitation, I’ve loved getting to be a part of such a patient-centered environment. Every aspect of care is focused on what matters most to each individual, and it’s been so rewarding to see how therapy is tailored to support their personal goals and daily lives. I’ve had the opportunity to work with patients recovering from brain injuries, strokes, and spinal cord injuries alongside a multidisciplinary team, and it’s been incredibly meaningful to be part of their journey.

One of the most special parts of Touro is the monthly Aphasia & Brain Injury Support Group, where patients and members of the community come together to connect, share experiences, and continue that sense of support beyond rehab. Being able to witness and contribute to this level of care has made this experience truly unforgettable!”

World Autism Awareness Day🦋

Wearing blue as a little reminder that communication doesn’t have to look one way to be meaningful. As future SLPs, we’re here to support, advocate, and celebrate every voice, every form, every person💙

Supporting our voice professor, Jamie LeBoutillier, MS, CCC-SLP, at a LSHA event where she presented on “Checking the Pipes: The Importance of an Esophageal Sweep”. 🩻

We love learning from her in and outside of the classroom! 📝

Rock your socks for World Down Syndrome Day 🧦💙💛

Today we celebrate individuals with DS and advocate for inclusion, communication access, and opportunities for all. As future SLPs, we are honored to support every voice and every story.

What better place to celebrate than at one of our favorite places with our favorite people !!!!

Lucky to be a (future) SLP!!☘️

We’re wearing green for more than just St. Patrick’s Day, we’re raising awareness for individuals with brain injuries and the challenges they face every day.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. As SLPs, we play a vital role in helping individuals rebuild communication, cognition, and swallowing skills after brain injury- supporting them in regaining independence, confidence, and connection in their daily lives.

Brain injury can impact so much more than we see, and awareness is the first step toward better support, understanding, and care. 🧠💚
