NEWCITY Neighborhood Partnership is a space where people and groups who live and work in the Tremé/Lafitte, Tulane/Gravier, and Seventh Ward Neighborhoods come together to share information, discuss issues, and build partnerships. The Tremé and Lower Mid-City are slated to receive $5.2 billion of investment over the next five years, in the form of hospitals, housing, schools, parks and transportat
ion improvements. In order to maximize the benefits of these investments, a group of fifteen community leaders and partners spearheaded the formation of the NEWCITY Neighborhood Partnership in 2007. By sharing information and resources, identifying and addressing critical issues and projects, and coordinating plans and meetings, NEWCITY’s members hope to create a healthier, more vibrant New Orleans. NEWCITY aims to build upon the deep roots and rich, cultural history of Tremé and Lower Mid-City as we together continue to revitalize our
community
Over the past four years, NEWCITY has grown from a loose assembly of community leaders into a dynamic coalition of passionate, practical decision-makers. Today, NEWCITY is a diverse mix of over 75 developers, funders, service providers, faith-based groups & churches, schools & universities, government agencies, and neighborhood residents. NEWCITY members use monthly meetings to discuss key development and recovery issues, explore opportunities for collaboration and group action, and synergize individual residents’ efforts with larger redevelopment projects and investments
