About us
Alternative Education Research Institute (AERI) is a collective of educators, researchers and community activists working to facilitate change by creating progressive interdisciplinary research enhanced by curriculum design, program evaluation, staff development training's, and community events in the areas of social justice, education and community wellness. AERI offers a host of progra

ms and services that are meant to provide culturally relevant research and development solutions for small and mid-sized community organizations who serve disadvantaged populations. Our services are meant to provide a foundation for our clients to build strong research-based programs for our youth and adults that will move their communities forward in a positive direction. History
AERI began in Los Angeles, CA in 2006 as Resource Opportunities Consulting. when a trio of community activists and educators came together to work with local schools and community-based organizations to develop alternative programming to replace otherwise traditional programs that were not beneficial to the populations they served. What we found was an overwhelming need for evidence-based alternative education programs that serve to enhance traditional methods while also meeting the needs of the community that they serve. Thereafter, we implemented our first project by developing research-based educational programs for at-risk youth and formerly incarcerated adults. Our programs were met with such enthusiasm and gratitude from the target communities that we expanded our efforts across the United States. What we do today...
Today, AERI is a research and development institute that works directly with community-based, educational and government organizations to create social justice programs that best assist participants to enhance their target communities. Take a look at our SERVICES and PROGRAMS pages to learn how we can assist your agency in developing ground-breaking social justice programs for your community(ies).
