Hoisting Wire vs. Luffing Wire - Basic Things To Know ✅⚓️

* Hoisting Wire – lifts and lowers the load vertically. It runs through the sheaves to the hook or lifting block and carries the load being handled.
* Luffing Wire – raises and lowers the crane boom, changing its angle and therefore the working radius.

In simple terms: Hoisting wire moves the load up and down, while luffing wire moves the boom up and down. Both are essential for safe and controlled crane operations.
