Hey friends, Asheville and western NC on the whole has been gravely impacted by Hurricane Helene. Most are without power, cell service, water and many people are still unreachable/missing. Any infrastructure along the French Broad River is either completely gone or damaged severely. All major highways in and out of Asheville are cut off due to flooding and collapse of the roads and landslides. We are mobilizing to bring supplies up when the roads clear and are passable and the first load is leaving tomorrow! Sunday Sept 29. Please share supply drive info and these fundraisers with your networks. A lot of close friends are affected, involved with on the ground efforts, and are doing what they can to coordinate support. Keep an eye on our stories for info on where to drop supplies. The first drop off is tomorrow between 10-11am at 1212 St. Bernard - John Thompson Legacy Center 🖤

Love the land? Hate the landlord? We want to hear from you!

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
2025 EARTHBOUND FARMER’S ALMANAC

This year—as the crisis that began by sweeping people off the land and is now sweeping an increasing number of us out of our houses gets steadily worse—we want to use the almanac to explore escape routes from this dictatorship of private property. How do we live together on the land? What works? What doesn’t? What movements—possibly from distant places or distant times—might we learn from?

We’re looking for writing as well as illustration and photography that you think would fit what we’re aiming for here. Written pitches should be brief and to the point- a paragraph or two. Final written pieces will be 750-1500 words. If sending illustrations or photos, send a few images with how and if you’d like to be credited.

In addition we’re looking for more recipes from the land, how to’s, climate change noticings and farm notes.

PITCHES DUE AUGUST 7 2024

The almanac is entirely volunteer produced, all funds generated go back into publishing the dang thing and to help subsidize sending large quantities to groups all over at cost of printing.

Email us ASAP @ lobeliacommons at protonmail dot com, with “2025 almanac submission” in your subject. Dm or email us with any questions!! :) thanks
