So you went ahead and found yourself a baby kitten..
Well it’s very likely you need to leave that baby alone. If they’re in a dangerous spot you can move them to a safer location nearby to wait for mom to return. Mama cats are the best chance kittens have of survival so if the kittens aren’t visibly injured, sick or uncared for (dirty + thin) simply wait, from a distance, for mom’s return.
If they do in fact need help because you studied all the materials and used your best judgment and phoned a friend and they agreed well then scoop them up and keep them warm. THAT’S IT.
Do NOT attempt to feed
Do NOT bathe
DO keep them warm
Important! This may not be the advice you’re given everywhere, but we, the ones who know better than anyone, do NOT recommend removing friendly kittens, of any age, from their environment for adoption or healthy kittens for socialization unless they are in imminent danger. Instead, we recommend you TNR (trap, neuter and return) those kitty cats and all their friends.
Yes kitten season sucks, but you can be a kitty cat hero simply by being informed and educating those around you helping to reduce the number of cats and kittens entering shelters and rescues so that we all have the space and resources available to dedicate to the ones that truly need saving 💖
