A Message from Our Founder and CEO, Jolie Dugas Bernard:
This morning, I had the privilege and pleasure of presenting the Future Forward Foundation Annual Spring Scholarship to Mr. Joshua Hoover, Graduating Senior, at Airline High School in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Our organization awarded Josh a $4,000 scholarship with an annual distribution of $1,000 for four years.
Additionally, I was able to announce The Alton J. Dugas Foundation, my grandfather’s legacy non-profit I started to honor his life and service to others, awarded Josh a $4,000 match with an annual distribution of $1,000 for four years that he will receive every Fall.
This moment in time is definitely full circle as I first met Josh and his mom, Karen Bell, in December 2019 two days before Christmas in the Shreveport Regional Airport. I was headed back home after taking my last meeting of the year and in classic American Airlines style, my flight was delayed several times that day. I would have usually been annoyed, but that day, I had made up my mind that I wasn’t going to get out of character.
God used me that day and since then, I have been connected to Josh and his mom. For three years, I have watched Josh grow into an exceptional young man that is grounded by his faith and he continues to make his family proud. He has excelled in everything he is committed to from his academic responsibilities, being a first-year Soccer player with a starting position, owning and operating his first business successfully, and being a leader on his job and in his community.
Josh has also earned the distinction of Mr. Airline High, Mr. Debonair, Airline High Prom King, and now he will forever be part of the 2022 Class of Future Forward Foundation and The Alton J. Dugas Foundation Scholarship Recipients.
I am incredibly proud of you, Josh, and I am very much looking forward to continuing to watch you set the world on fire and leave your mark in the way only YOU can!!! Congratulations on your well-deserved and EARNED success!!!
