Coming out is not a one-time moment, and everyoneā€™s journey looks different. Whether youā€™re living out loud, still figuring things out, or choosing to keep parts of yourself private, your identity is valid.

At New Orleans Black Pride, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to exist, love, and live authentically without fear or judgment.

To those who came before us, those living boldly today, and those still finding their way ā€” we see you, we celebrate you, and we stand with you.

We invite two-spirit, agender, trans, intersex, non-binary, and genderfluid people to submit original written work about their name-choosing journeys, including essays, short stories, poems, calls to action, manifestos, testimonios, brief autoethnographies and other accessible academic pieces, etc. (On our Names and Renaming resources page, we include a growing list of othersā€™ name-choosing stories, which may inspire yours.)

At this nascent stage of the blog, we do not have the means to compensate contributors (nor ourselves!), so this would be an unpaid publishing opportunity. Contributors are the sole owners of the work they share on this platform.

Today, we celebrate ALL le****ns! The masculine, the feminine, the studs, the femmes, the androgynous, and everyone in between.

We honor the beauty, strength, resilience, and diversity of le***an women, especially Black le****ns who continue to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, build community, and live unapologetically.

There is no one way to look, love, or exist as a le***an. Every expression deserves to be seen, respected, and celebrated.

To the women who came before us, those making space today, and the generations coming behind us, we see you, we honor you, and we celebrate you!
