We don’t talk enough about menopause and sickle cell disease — and that gap leaves too many people unprepared.
At SC RED, we’re hosting an upcoming Critical Conversations Webinar focused on SCD and menopause, a topic that is rarely discussed, under-researched, and often overlooked in both community education and clinical care.
This conversation is for all ages. Whether menopause feels far off, is happening now, or has already passed, understanding how reproductive aging intersects with SCD helps people plan, advocate, and support themselves and others across the lifespan.
We’ll talk honestly about:
• What we know — and what we don’t
• Symptoms that are often dismissed or misunderstood
• Gaps in research and provider education
• Why menopause belongs in comprehensive sickle cell care
Reproductive health doesn’t stop at fertility. Our education shouldn’t either.

Thanksgiving is giving thanks! We are blessed to be a blessing! God is The Only One who can maximize our minimum! Giving thanks to our liberal unselfish families and friends who made giving so special for our unhoused brothers and sisters. Thank you for your financial gifts that assisted us in purchasing and donating socks, hats, toiletries, shirts, thermals, and women sanitary products. The love we received was humbling and heartwarming. We thought we were the gift givers, but it was our unhoused brothers and sisters who gave us the priceless gift of gratitude! Please forgive me if I forgot to mention you or your organization. We love each of you and could not do this without U!! As mentioned in the previous post, this link displays the list of several items to donate that are not only wanted, but are needed by the recipients. Thank you!

Repost:

So many times when we solicit and donate items to nonprofit organizations, homeless shelters, missions, or churches; some of us rarely ask what is needed or wanted by the recipients that would be useful to them. This list is only a starting point for those who are able to donate. Please add to the list as you find out what is needed or wanted by the recipients in your areas of loving our neighbors with thoughtful giving, not only at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but any time all year long. "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7). Thank you!!

If there is one thing that Sickle Cell “Warriors” — those battling with the inherited blood disorder that often creates crescent (sickle)-shaped blood cells — share, it is the excruciating pain that accompanies the disease as the cells move through the blood vessels. The 17th Annual Hybrid S...
