Where to begin? To start, thank you to Becca and the PTSA crew. The chili, cheese sandwiches and hot cocoa were excellent. The atmosphere and camaraderie were the sprinkles on a cookie. Speaking of cookies, the New Holstein Optimist cookies, delicious as always. Hope Church, thank you for rounding out the offerings of baked goods.
To our friends and neighbors who made the magic happen by decorating your vehicles, to the students and athletes, the walkers and the choir, 2/5ths Party Band, and of course Santa, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To the NHPD, thank you for your help with parade set up, and keeping the streets clear. All this and you managed to wrangle that Christmas stealing Grinch as well.
Thank you to the community groups, school groups, businesses, families and travel friends who put the twinkle in the trees. It would not have happened if you hadn't stepped up.
Tonight, as we stood waiting for Santa to make his way to the park, a few of us watched a little magic happen in the sky. Whether it was a meteor, a drone or the reindeer coming for Santa, for that brief moment, I for one believed this was a reminder that people make a community magical. We just need to look up, from our TV's, phones, and other devices. We need to look at each other and remember this is what a community is about. A little time, a little effort and a little magic.
To our community, we thank you for cheering on this little idea that grew from the desire to add a little sparkle to our corner of the world.
Thank you everyone for coming tonight. You are so appreciated.
And to the individual who said the whole evening was like a Hallmark movie, we felt that way too.
