What's the only mammal in the world that can truly fly and is also one of the most important animals in the global ecosystem? That's right - bats!
Bats eat up a lot of pesky insects and are a key piece of pollinating and spreading seeds.
We can help our flying friends by providing habitat like trees and bat boxes and reducing or stopping the use of chemical pesticides. The health of the Maumee watershed is directly linked to the survival of the Indiana bat, which relies on healthy riparian corridors and the insect populations they support. We’re teaming up with a statewide grassroots movement to officially designate the Indiana bat as our state mammal! 🦇
We ask that you help us get this petition rolling so it can be presented to the Indiana general assembly in 2027 and BAM bats become our state mammal. (Hopefully)
