Ever wonder what we actually teach? Have a peek inside our curriculum and why it opens doors. Drop a 💜 if you wish you had access to this as a teen.

I’m Jasmine Dawson, and I'm the founder of She CAN Edit. We’re a local nonprofit dedicated to kicking open the doors of the media and tech industry for young women in New Haven.

We are currently raising money for our Creator’s Fund and are thrilled to have raised close to $700! We still have a way to go to fund our mobile editing lab and are keeping the campaign running through the end of the year.

Would you be open to chipping in $25, $50, or $100 today? It honestly makes a huge difference in getting these girls the real equipment and training they need. And because we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your gift is 100% tax-deductible!

Will you join us in preparing the next generation of storytellers? Every dollar makes a difference!

Thank you so much in advance!

Best,

Jasmine

One day left until Giving Tuesday! ⏰ I started She CAN Edit because I was tired of being the only woman of color in every professional editing room. We can’t fix that industry gap without giving the next generation the professional tools they need right now. Tomorrow is our day to fund the equipment that turns talent into careers. Let’s close this access gap together. Link in bio to support the future of media!

Today we celebrate Jennifer Lame, the powerhouse editor proving that technical mastery and emotional storytelling are key to navigating modern Hollywood.

Jennifer is a true chameleon, famous for her delicate work on films like Manchester by the Sea and her mind-bending precision on blockbusters like Tenet. Her quote, “An editor really is the last line of defense in the script process,” highlights the incredible responsibility and power she holds.

The editor decides what the audience sees, when they see it, and how they feel. We teach our students to control that power across every genre.

It’s Friday, and coincidentally, it’s National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day! 🧹

Think of your editing timeline the same way: a tidy project is an efficient project. The smoother your organization, the more time you have for the magic. As editor Lisa Fruchtman says, the beauty of editing is knowing you can always go back and fix things.

Time for a clean cut and a clear mind! Have a great weekend.
