DONATE & HELP!

In Nigeria, about 150,000 babies each year are born with sickle cell disease, and 100,000 will die before their 5th birthday? To reduce this high infant death rate, two newborn screening and follow-up programs supported by donations were established to serve seven (7) states in Nigeria (www.cnbspsw.org).

Our goal is $50,000 for these urgent needs:
👉 Screen: 8,000 children ($100 for 20 babies) = ($40,000)
👉 Thermometers for 150 families ($2,500)
👉 Penicillin and antimalarials for 300 families ($2,000)
👉 Incentive Spirometers ($1,500)
👉 Treated mosquito nets ($1,000)
👉 Lancets (28-30g), Gloves & Shipping ($3,000)

Please help in any way you can!
We are counting on you!

We are thrilled to share that Global Sickle Cell Alliance recently had the honour of hosting and attending the graduation ceremony of the Hemoglobinopathy Counselors in Ibadan on March 25, 2023.

Organized by the Global Sickle Cell Alliance, this hybrid program marked a major milestone for these incredible professionals, who have dedicated their careers to supporting individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease and other hemoglobinopathies.

We are aware firsthand of how crucial it is to have access to knowledgeable and caring counsellors who can offer support. The hemoglobinopathy counsellors who graduated at this ceremony have undergone rigorous training and demonstrated a deep commitment to providing the highest level of care to those impacted by these diseases.

It was truly inspiring to hear from the graduates and their mentors about the work they are doing to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by hemoglobinopathies. Their dedication and passion for their work were evident throughout the course, and we at the Global Sickle Cell Alliance are confident that they will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those they serve.

Our work is making a real difference in the lives of people around the world, and we are grateful for the opportunity to do this.

Congratulations again to the hemoglobinopathy counsellors, and best wishes for a bright and fulfilling future ahead!

Exciting news! The Global Sickle Cell Alliance recently organized a 2-day impact session to train the staff of OLA PHC on how to tackle the challenges of sickle cell disease. We are proud to be part of this initiative that will undoubtedly improve the lives of individuals living with sickle cell disease in our community.

Through this training, the staff of OLA PHC has gained a better understanding of sickle cell disease and how to manage its complications. This will definitely lead to better care and treatment for people with sickle cell, which is a big step toward making sure they have a better quality of life.

We commend the Global Sickle Cell Alliance for its commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of people living with sickle cell disease, and we hope that other healthcare organizations will follow their example. Exciting news! The Global Sickle Cell Alliance is making huge strides in sickle cell education and screening. We just led a seminar at Lead University in Ibadan where we talked about how important it is to understand genetics and how sickle cell needs to be stopped.

Through our efforts, we hope to raise awareness about sickle cell disease and provide more resources for those affected by it. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about sickle cell, please don't hesitate to reach out. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those living with this condition.

Great news! The Global Sickle Cell Alliance (Glosca) worked with the Iwo East Baptist Association and the Comprehensive Newborn Screening Program for Sickle Cell Disorders in South West Nigeria to offer free sickle cell disease testing for children ages 0–5. To lower the number of deaths caused by sickle cell disease, it's important to find it early and give follow-up care. Let's spread the word and encourage everyone to get tested.
