We have completed another project for the Garrett Kunkel Memorial Project!

This is the same neighbor we previously assisted with critical electrical repairs, and we were honored to return to continue improving the safety and quality of life at their home.

During this phase of the project, we replaced two unsafe steps on the deck, repaired and replaced rotted deck boards, wrapped all pipes under the home to help protect them from weather damage, rebuilt the gate leading under the home, and installed new skirting around the house. The skirting helps protect the home from weather and moisture, improves pest control, and increases overall safety for the homeowner.

Through Garrett's Legacy of service, we are helping our neighbors live safer, more comfortable lives.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support, volunteer, and believe in this mission!

Stay tuned for more community projects and upcoming information regarding sponsorship for the 2026 fundraiser later this year!

We’re proud to share another completed project serving our community!

Recently, our team had the opportunity to assist an elderly neighbor whose vehicle had become unsafe to operate; she did not have the funds or skills to make the necessary repairs. This vehicle is essential, not just for transportation, but for getting to work, attending medical appointments, and maintaining a stable, independent, livable life. Without it, everyday responsibilities become a major challenge.

Repairs completed included brakes, shocks, struts, engine mounts, and the serpentine belt. These issues made the vehicle unsafe to drive with severely damaged engine mounts, causing severe vibration and engine shifting, a worn serpentine belt put critical systems like power steering and the alternator at risk, and worn brakes, shocks, and struts reduced control, stability, and stopping ability.

With these repairs, this individual now has a safer, more reliable way to get to work, attend appointments, and live independently. This directly improves their quality of life and provides peace of mind moving forward.

A huge thank you to G’s homies and his dad for volunteering their time, hard work, and support to get this car back on the road. Your effort truly made a difference.

This is what the Garrett Kunkel Memorial Project is all about: neighbors helping neighbors, one project at a time.

We have a few more projects planned, so keep your eye out for more updates, and remember to live like Garrett today and do a small act of kindness without expecting recognition.

March 22nd marked something incredibly special for the Garrett Kunkel Memorial Project... our very first project in action. ❤️

We had the opportunity to step in and begin making a home safer by replacing breakers and addressing electrical issues that were causing real safety concerns for the resident. It may seem like a small fix to some, but to us, it’s exactly what this mission is about: showing up, stepping in, and making a tangible difference where it matters most.

And we’re not done yet! This project will take a few more days in action, and there are still additional fixes ahead, but that’s the heart of it. We’re committed to seeing it through and continuing to show up until the job is fully complete and the home is truly safe.

Garrett was the kind of person who would never hesitate to help someone in need. He led with generosity, kindness, and a quiet strength that made people feel safe and supported. This project is a reflection of who he was and who we strive to be in his honor.

A very special thank you to Robert Jentsch from Erben Electric, who took his personal time to diagnose the issues and determine what needed to be done.

A huge thank you to Garrett’s homies for showing up, working hard, and bringing the kind of energy and heart that Garrett himself would have loved to see. And thank you to the NB Family Life Center for your support in helping screen needs and connect us with this opportunity to serve.

This is just the beginning!

❤️ A message from our Founder, Julia Kunkel❤️

While you are probably tired of hearing me say it, I want to take a moment to personally thank everyone who supported the Garrett Kunkel Memorial Project & Fundraiser - our sponsors, donors, volunteers, friends, and family. Your generosity, encouragement, and love have meant more than words can express.

This project holds a very special place in my heart. It was created to honor my brother, Garrett, to carry forward his kindness, his laughter, and the way he made everyone feel seen and cared for. I started this project simply wanting to give back in his memory, but what I didn’t expect was how many people would show up… how many would give, share, volunteer, and stand beside me. Looking back, though, I shouldn’t be surprised. That’s the kind of impact Garrett had on people, and the kind of community we’re blessed to have here. 💛

I’m endlessly grateful, not just for the success of the fundraiser, but for the moments shared with those who knew and loved G, and those who wanted to get to know him through this cause.

Your support has brought so much healing and hope, and it reminds me every day that his spirit continues to bring people together.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for helping me turn this dream into something real, something that will continue making a difference in the community Garrett loved so much.

I love you all❤️

With gratitude,
Julia Kunkel

💙 Fundraiser Update & Thank You 💙

We are deeply humbled and overjoyed to share that the Garrett Kunkel Memorial Project Fundraiser raised a total of $12,204, including generous in-kind donations and monetary contributions. Our Raffle ticket sales brought in $1,200 and our wonderful guests, attendees, and sponsers account for the rest. We are in ABSOLUTE AWE of all of you. Not even in my wildest dreams did I think we would be able to achieve this in our first year. Garrett and each one of you continue to bless us.

— our monetary total rasied was an amazing $10,000 which will go directly back into supporting our community. 🌟

The event itself was nothing short of amazing. The outpouring of love, encouragement, and generosity from family, friends, sponsors, and community members was truly overwhelming. We are so thankful — not just for the incredible outcome of the fundraiser, but for the time we got to spend surrounded by those who knew and loved G, and those who came to learn about the kind, joyful person he was.

This gathering was more than a fundraiser — it was a celebration of Garrett’s life and a reflection of the community spirit he embodied. 💛

As we look ahead, our next step is to conduct a formal needs assessment to identify how the Garrett Kunkel Memorial Project can best serve and meet the needs of our local community. We’re excited to continue this journey with the same heart, purpose, and love that inspired it from the start.

Thank you to everyone who gave, attended, volunteered, and supported us along the way — this project would not be possible without you. 💙

Stay tuned for pictures from the event!

💙 Thank You, G’s Homies 💙

We want to take a moment to send out our deepest thanks to G’s “homies” as he called them, a nickname we so lovingly adopted — the incredible group of friends who loved Garrett so fiercely in life and continue to honor him in everything they do.

Your unwavering support, love, and loyalty to G and to our family since his passing have meant more than words can express. From the countless stories, laughter, and memories you’ve shared, to the time, energy, and hard work you’ve poured into our family and your encouement of the Memorial Project, you’ve carried Garrett’s spirit forward in the most beautiful way.

You’ve shown up — not just for G, but for each other, for Garretts’s family and for this community. You’ve helped transform grief into action, friendship into legacy, and love into something that continues to make a difference. 💛

We’re endlessly grateful for your hearts, your hustle, and the way you keep G’s light shining bright.
