We had the honor of recognizing a few remarkable Lions who have demonstrated their dedication to the New Braunfels Evening Lions Club and those we serve. While each Lion has made a significant impact on our club, fellow Lions, and neighbors. We wanted to take a moment to recognize those whose unique or grand contributions stood out among their peers.

Over and above: Roslyn Even and Sharon Kemp

The Over and Above Award honors individuals whose dedication and generosity exceeded expectations in service to our club. Through their hard work creating new vests for our members and a special custom vest for one of our Lions' children, they demonstrated exceptional thoughtfulness, craftsmanship, and commitment.

Queen of Wurstfest: Chere Billings

The Queen of Wurstfest Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication by volunteering to work every shift in the club's Wurstfest fundraiser booth. This award honors their commitment, reliability, and significant contribution to the success of one of the club's most important annual fundraisers.

President's Plaque: Barry Waldie

The President's Plaque is presented to the outgoing president in recognition of their leadership, dedication, and service during their term. This award honors the time, effort, and commitment they invested in guiding the club and advancing its mission throughout the year.

Special Recognition: Kim Ha and Sharon Kemp

This recognition honors members who were nominated for a district-level award within Lions Clubs International. The nomination reflects the respect and confidence that fellow Lions have in the recipient's leadership, character, and commitment to service.

Appreciation Award: Bob Fly and Bob Oldham

The Appreciation Award recognizes an individual for their years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment to our club. It honors the leadership, guidance, and contributions they have made while serving on the Board of Directors, helping strengthen our club and its impact.

Lion of the year: Bob Oldham

Lion of the Year is one of the club's highest honors. It recognizes a member whose outstanding service, leadership, participation, and commitment have made an exceptional impact on the club and the community throughout the year.

Melvin Jones Fellowship: Mary LeFebvre

The Melvin Jones Fellowship is one of the most prestigious honors in Lionism. Presented through the Lions Clubs International Foundation, it recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service and dedication to the mission of Lions as recognized by their peers.

Take a moment to congratulate them in the comments!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2026 Annual Officer Installation and Awards Dinner. It was a wonderful evening filled with friendship, laughter, and celebration as we reflected on another successful year of service.

We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, hard work, and generosity of our members who continue to make a difference through even the smallest acts of service. Looking back on all we have accomplished together reminds us of the true impact Lions can have when we unite to serve.

A very special welcome to our newest Lions. We are excited to have you join our Lions family and look forward to serving alongside you in the coming year. May your journey in Lionism be filled with meaningful friendships, growth, and countless opportunities to make a positive difference.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to our guest speaker, IPCC Terrell Thompson, who traveled all the way from Lubbock to spend the evening with us. Thank you for sharing your experiences, inspiring stories, and powerful reminders of the importance of what we do as Lions. Your message reinforced the impact of Lionism, big and small.

We look forward to another year filled with your Roars!

Another project completed through the Garrett Kunkel Memorial Project! 💙🛠️🦁

The Garrett Kunkel Memorial Project and the New Braunfels Evening Lions Club were honored to partner together once again to continue assisting a local neighbor in need — the same homeowner we previously helped with critical electrical repairs earlier this year.

During this phase of the project, volunteers worked together to improve both the safety and quality of life at the home by:
✔️ Replacing two unsafe deck steps
✔️ Repairing and replacing rotted deck boards
✔️ Wrapping pipes beneath the home to help protect against weather damage
✔️ Rebuilding the access gate under the home
✔️ Installing new skirting around the house to improve weather protection, moisture control, pest prevention, and overall safety

This project reflects what community partnership and service are all about — neighbors coming together to help neighbors. Through Garrett’s legacy of compassion and service, we are continuing to make a meaningful impact in the lives of local families.

A heartfelt thank you to every volunteer, supporter, and community partner who continues to believe in this mission and helps make projects like this possible. ✨

Stay tuned for more upcoming community projects and additional information regarding sponsorship opportunities for the 2026 fundraiser later this year!

🦋💙 A Beautiful Beginning for the Rock Haus Lions Club 💙🦋

At our recent gathering, the newly formed Rock Haus Lions Club — an IDD branch of the New Braunfels Evening Lions Club — took an exciting first step toward building something truly special together. 🦁✨

During the meeting, participants officially selected the name Rock Haus Lions Club and celebrated by completing their very first service project! 🎉

The group painted beautiful wooden butterflies that will be shared during our June wildseed ball planting project at Fischer Park. 🌼🌱

This club is about more than art and planting flowers — it’s about inclusion, friendship, purpose, and creating meaningful opportunities for individuals with IDD to serve and engage with their community. 💛

Watching the creativity, teamwork, and joy throughout the meeting was a powerful reminder that everyone has gifts to share and an important role in making our community stronger.

The New Braunfels Evening Lions are incredibly proud to support the Rock Haus Lions Club and cannot wait to see the impact this amazing group will make together. ✨
