Today we honor June 19, 1865 โ the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally received word of their freedom, 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today we remember, we reflect, and we lift up the resilience and joy of Black Americans across nearly 250 years of struggle and triumph.
And TOMORROW, we celebrate together. ๐
