Christopher Foundation

Christopher Foundation Learn more at:www.AngelofHearts.org It was a large piece of poster board that she had brought him to draw on. He decorated all around the boy with little hearts.

Inspired by Christopher Cooley, the Christopher Foundation will raise public awareness of pediatric cancer, support patient and families, and gain knowledge through research funding. In 1997, during one of Christopher’s many hospital stays for fever and neutropenia (which means his counts were very low and he had to be isolated in his room), Annie, the Child Life worker, was in the room working wi

th him on drawing a picture. Christopher was drawing away and decorating this picture. When Christopher drew people, he normally still used stick people. But this boy was not a stick person, he was 3-dimensional and very detailed. He had a hickman catheter coming from his chest, tattoos on his chest just exactly like the tattoos on Christopher’s chest from his radiation, the scars across his stomach and chest from surgeries, and he even looked down and copied his belly button in great detail!! Then he got the glue and started adding some of the decorations that Annie had brought with her. Then for his final touch, he glued two feathers on the boy where his arms would be. We were all looking at the picture trying to figure out what he was doing and Annie asked him, “Christopher what is that?” His answer dropped all of our jaws, brought tears to several of us, and even a few that were in the room stepped into the hallway to collect themselves. He said quite innocently, “That is me; I am going to be the angel of hearts.”

That is why we have chosen the Angel of Hearts and the heart with wings emblem to represent the Christopher Foundation.

WHY DO WE DO THIS COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT?
Christopher Cooley attended Benton Elementary through the 3rd grade. He was diagnosed with cancer at age 3. He was a thoughtful young boy. Christopher had a gift for brightening the lives of of everyone he met. Since his passing, over 20 years ago, the Christopher Foundation has been touching the lives of families with children diagnosed with cancer. One way they do this is by delivering Easter basket to children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. The Foundation is able to spread joy by delivering Easter baskets to all children that our patients, not just those with cancer.

Our Benton students bring the items for the baskets and Benton staff brings the baskets, grass and bags to wrap the treasured field baskets in.

You are welcome to send items as soon as you are able and please have items sent by Monday, March 30th so we can get the baskets packed and ready for The Christpher Foundation to pick them up on April 1st.

Thanks in advance for your kindness and generosity!

This young man was just diagnosed with cancer. This is such a great way to help him and his family during this difficult time!

Enjoy this Combo until Barrett comes home! Let's stand with them in Prayer and show them their Community is fighting with them!
This will run until Barrett comes home! They have 2-3 months in Memphis, but his entire journey may take 2-3 years to beat! His parents will be traveling frequently and we know expenses never stop. We want to ease their burden!

Here is a great opportunity to help a young man and his family as they navigate the new diagnosis of cancer.

Tonight was pure magic. ✨ The Christopher Foundation had the honor of surprising Romeo with his Make A Wish reveal — and his reaction was everything.

He walked in thinking he was stuck in a meeting with his parents…
Instead, he found out he’s going to HAWAII! 🌺🌊

Soon he’ll be touring Jurassic Park, swimming with sharks, and diving into the adventure of a lifetime.

A huge thank you to Kendra, Shelby, Kayla, Brent, and the incredible Texas Roadhouse team for creating such an unforgettable moment. And thank you to everyone who came out to support Romeo — your presence made the night even more special!

And to our incredible donors — you made this dream real. Romeo’s adventure starts now, and it’s all because of your generosity. 💛
