We know everyone has been working hard to bring their crops in, but consider taking today off. Rural fire departments have already been busy fighting field fires this week. Take the day to spend time with your families and watch the Husker game, then get back to work after the extreme fire threat has passed. Go Big Red!

A combination of very low relative humidity and strong winds will bring very high to extreme fire weather conditions across much of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa this afternoon and evening. Be sure to avoid outdoor burning (things such as bonfires), do not park vehicles in the grass, don't toss ci******es outside, and be careful with equipment that may spark while working outdoors.

Tomorrow is world soil day. The more you know...

Tomorrow is World Soil Day! Did you know soil is an important climate solution? Putting carbon back in the ground is one of the least expensive ways of getting that carbon out of the atmosphere. Plus, returning carbon to the soil can increase biodiversity, strengthen local economies, reduce flooding, and make our food system more resilient.

Celebrate soil tomorrow!

"For Nebraska farmers and ranchers, right to repair is a financial, competition and fairness issue. That is why Nebraska Farmers Union and other farm and commodity organizations support Sen. Tom Brandt’s “right to repair” reforms in his priority bill, LB 543. His bill would provide farmers and independent repair shops with the software repair tools and other parts they need to fix farm equipment when it breaks. LB 543 is a commonsense way to solve this long-standing problem."
