We partner with OutNebraska and other local businesses and organizations to provide safe, visible spaces for the q***r community to congregate, socialize, and connect. Through fostering relationships between the q***r community and Nebraska brick and mortar spaces, we aim to strengthen the q***r community and its visibility, while highlighting local organizations that are welcoming and supportive
of the q***r community. For example, the Le***an Bar Project recently noted that there are only 21 Le***an Bars left in the United States. Similarly, there are few q***r-focused brick and mortar spaces in Nebraska. This lack of a physical space has left many q***r people feeling invisible, unsafe, and less capable of finding a q***r community. Although the intent of q***rPOP is to strengthen q***r-specific culture, our events will be inclusive to LGBTQ allies and family members. Our goals are to:
Identify and partner with organizations that are welcoming of q***r people
Utilize existing infrastructure of the Lincoln community for long-lasting support of q***r people
Build awareness, visibility, and resources for the q***r community and their needs
Connect q***r people to each other and create a thriving q***r community in Nebraska
Create safe spaces and events for q***r people and their families to have fun
