We are so excited to share this news and announcement! We hope all of our fellow historians and history enthusiasts will take a moment to attend and view Butch’s craftsmanship! Great way to celebrate the holiday-see ya there!

The Mayhew Cabin Foundation is celebrating their grand reopening of the historic Mayhew Cabin at 7:00 pm on the evening of June 19, 2026 in commemoration of the Juneteenth National Holiday and American 250 Celebration.

WOW!…….What a great way to celebrate National Historic Preservation Week with the news today of being awarded grant funds from the Wirth Foundation to complete our Native American Medicinal Prairie Landscape at Old Freighters Museum! This project will allow us to expand our exhibits while encouraging visitors to explore the many angles of the Westward Trail Movement-we are proud to say we will be partnering with Grimm’s Gardens! Thank you Wirth Foundation for the opportunity and supporting the Society !👏

Not even a tornado warning could stop the ribbon cutting/renovation reveal at Old Freighters Museum ! Great crowd and lots of visitors braved the elements. As we celebrate Arbor Day, come visit us as our museums are OPEN for the season and see for yourself how busy we have been🌳
