Today, we honor a powerful Indigenous teaching from the Andes: ayni โ€” the sacred practice of reciprocity.

For generations, Andean communities have lived by the understanding that everything is connected โ€” people, land, water, and spirit. What we take, we must give back. What we receive, we are responsible to return.

Ayni is not just about exchange โ€” itโ€™s about balance, care, and community. It reminds us that the Earth is not a resource to use, but a relationship to nurture.

This Earth Day, we invite you to take action for

Spend time outdoors and reconnect with nature
๐Ÿ’ง Care for your body โ€” hydrate, nourish, and rest
๐Ÿค Support one another โ€” check in, share, uplift
๐ŸŒ Protect our environment โ€” reduce waste, conserve, give back

When we care for the Earth, we care for ourselves. When we uplift our communities, we strengthen our collective well-being.

๐ŸŒฟ Live well. Give back. Stay connected. That is reciprocity.

๐ŸƒGrowing Indigenous History through Milpas ๐ŸŒฑ

Community, collaboration, reciprocity, and solidarity โ€” these are the seeds that help us thrive together.

Inspired by Milpas, the Indigenous practice of growing corn, beans, and squash in mutual support, the NAHCC Foundation joins the Indigenous Peoples Coalition Nashville TN to nurture community through the Milpas Community Garden Project. ๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿซ˜๐ŸŽƒ

With gratitude to the Dan and Margaret Maddox Fund, Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation , Shelby Bottoms Nature Center & Greenway, and community members like you who makes this growth possible. ๐Ÿ’š
