One thing I have learned over the years is that what we tolerate today often becomes what we battle tomorrow. Every home has a culture, whether intentional or unintentional. The atmosphere of your home is being shaped every day by the conversations that take place, the attitudes that are allowed to remain, the words that are spoken, and the things that are repeatedly tolerated.
Many people spend years praying for peace while continuing to make room for fear. They pray for unity while allowing strife to go unaddressed. They pray for breakthrough while constantly speaking negativity. They pray for healing while holding tightly to unforgiveness. At some point, we have to be willing to examine not only what we are praying for, but also what we are allowing to remain.
I am not saying that homes should be perfect. Every family faces challenges. Every household walks through difficult seasons. However, there is a difference between facing a battle and creating an environment where something unhealthy has been given permission to stay. Scripture repeatedly calls us to steward what God has entrusted to us, and that includes the atmosphere of our homes.
That is why there are certain things I refuse to normalize in my home. I refuse to normalize fear. I refuse to normalize constant negativity, gossip, strife, chaos, unforgiveness, or spiritual passivity. Not because I think my family is immune from challenges, but because I understand that whatever is consistently tolerated will eventually influence the atmosphere.
The question is not simply what are you praying for. The question is what are you allowing? Sometimes the breakthrough we are asking God for begins with removing the things we have become comfortable entertaining.
If you’ve ever thought, “I want a more peaceful, faith-filled home, but I don’t know where to start,” that’s exactly why I created The Anointing Blueprint. Inside, I walk you through how to biblically pray over, anoint, and steward your home with confidence.
And if you’re looking for anointing oil, I have personally poured and prayed over every bottle available through our ministry. Both are available at the link in my bio or at joannabeck.com.
