⭐️ Every surgery tells a story of hope and every partnership creates a lasting impact.

WalkStrong’s Dr. Stocks recently joined the World Hip Campaign at Soddo Christian Hospital in Ethiopia, serving alongside an incredible team dedicated to restoring mobility and changing lives. Together, they completed 10 joint replacement surgeries. 7 total hip replacements and 3 total knee replacements.

Beyond the operating room, our mission is about investing in people. By sharing knowledge, supporting local surgeons, and strengthening orthopedic care, we’re helping create a future where more patients can receive the life changing treatment they deserve long after the mission ends.

Thank you to Dr. Tadesse Esayas, Dr. Ryan Ouillette, and Dr. Duane Anderson for their dedication and partnership in this important work.

📣 WalkStrong Foundation, in partnership with Project C.U.R.E., is proud to announce the successful delivery of a donated medical supply container to our partner site, Fundación Hagámoslo Juntos, in Barrio La Granja, Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

After a lengthy and challenging customs process, the container has finally arrived and been unloaded, bringing much needed medical supplies to healthcare providers and patients who need them most.

Dr. Alcero shared these heartfelt words upon its arrival:

“This donation represents far more than medical equipment and supplies. It represents access, dignity, and hope for patients in Honduras who otherwise may not have the opportunity to receive the care they need.”

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. Every box unloaded represents an opportunity to improve lives, support healthcare teams, and provide care to those who may otherwise go without.

To our incredible partners at Project C.U.R.E., thank you for your patience, trust, and unwavering commitment throughout this journey. Together, we are proving that compassion knows no borders.

Total Joint Replacement surgery is one of the most successful and frequently performed operations worldwide. Patients often report dramatic pain relief and improved function, which allows them to regain their independence and overall quality of life.

However, the cost of joint replacement implants places them out of reach for many patients, particularly those in low and middle-income countries.
​
As a nonprofit medical humanitarian organization, the WalkStrong Foundation is committed to creating sustainable total joint replacement programs in underserved communities. The organization provides knee and hip replacements at no cost to individuals suffering from arthritis in developing countries.

We’re proud to celebrate two of our own, Dr. Michael Christie and Dr. Jose Alcerro, for their recent publication in The Journal of Arthroplasty!

Their work highlights something we believe deeply at Walk Strong: the future of global surgery isn’t short-term missions, it is empowering local surgeons and building sustainable systems of care.

In their study, a locally led joint replacement program in Honduras achieved:
✔️ Life-changing improvements in patient mobility and function
✔️ Low complication rates comparable to U.S. benchmarks
✔️ Over 90% patient follow up far exceeding typical mission models

The takeaway is clear: when we invest in training, partnership, and local leadership, the impact goes far beyond a single surgery, it strengthens entire healthcare systems for the long term.
