In Nashville, an act of domestic violence takes place almost every twenty minutes. And more women are murdered by men in Tennessee than in 46 other states.

AMEND Together is an primary prevention initiative engaging men and boys to CHALLENGE a culture that supports violence against women, CULTIVATE healthy masculinity, and CHANGE the future for women and girls. AMEND Together empowers mentors to become positive role models for young men, and provides the tools young men need to mend our culture and end violence against women. The words we say to each other—whether on the field or behind closed door—create our culture. So the way we speak about women to one another sets the stage for how others act toward women. That’s how violence against women starts: with men, just like us, just saying words. As men, we’re responsible for this culture of violence. And as men, we have the power to end it. Ending Violence. We’re excited to welcome Townes to the AMEND Together team as our newest intern! Townes is pursuing his Master of Social Work at the University of Tennessee, and is passionate about creating spaces where students feel comfortable challenging the expectations and restrictions society has placed on them.

We’re excited to have Townes on the team and can’t wait to see all the ways he contributes to AMEND Together this year!

John and Anissa joined Coca-Cola Consolidated, Tennessee Titans, and Friends of Shelby Park for a day of service! They spent the day giving back to Shelby Park by picking up trash, mulching trails, and helping build up the nature park. We’re grateful for opportunities like this that allow our team to connect with community partners and give back to Nashville!

Join us for AMEND Together’s 5th Annual Kick-Out on Saturday, October 24! Kick-Out brings boys ages 7–18 + their families together for a day of kickball, food, family bonding, brotherhood, community resources, and a service project benefiting women and children at the YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee (nonprofit)’s domestic violence shelter.

We’re getting ready for a new school year of programming, but we’re not quite ready to let summer go☀️

Last month, we hosted our first ever summer camp, serving 43 boys for a week of fun, connection, and new experiences!

Nashville is stronger when we stand together 💙

The AMEND Together team took on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness and support ALS research. Inspired by the Tennessee Titans and the Nashville Predators, who have both joined the fight to bring attention to ALS, we were proud to step up and support the cause.

Now we’re challenging nonprofit leaders across Nashville to join us in raising awareness and showing what it means to stand together for a greater cause!

That’s a wrap on our first ever Summer Camp! 🤩

We were proud to serve more than 40 boys this week! To celebrate the last day of camp, the boys enjoyed bounce houses, snow cones, science experiments, shopped at the AMEND Together Store using the Trust Tickets they earned throughout the week, and created vision boards to prepare for the school year ahead!

We also celebrated our Counselor in Training, Jayden, with a special surprise from the Nashville Predators Foundation, who empower our work. Jayden received a Nashville Predators themed backpack filled with a water bottle, a sweatshirt, and a handwritten note to help him start the school year with confidence!

Thank you to Youth Encouragment Services for allowing us to use your building and helping make our first summer camp a success!

Thank you to the Downtown Nashville YMCA for welcoming our boys for two days of swim lessons and free swim!

During lesson time, the boys focused on teamwork and communication through a giant game of Connect 4, practicing how to work together, think strategically, and encourage one another!

A huge thank you to DPR Construction for spending time with our campers! The boys learned about fire safety, how sprinkler systems help protect people and buildings, and explored careers in construction through hands on activities. We appreciate your partnership in helping our campers build new skills and discover future career possibilities!

Day 3 of Summer Camp focused on the 4 C’s of consent: communication, clear, coercion free, and continuous. The boys put these concepts into practice during our Candy Consent activity, where they explored how communication, boundaries, and outside pressure can influence our decisions. They also built teamwork and communication skills during a workout session with William Cooper Jr. before ending the day with a dance battle!

Every day we’re challenging the culture that supports violence, cultivating healthy masculinity, and changing the future 💙

Healthy relationships start with healthy boundaries! Today, our campers explored what personal boundaries look like by creating “boundary fences,” with each popsicle stick representing something important they want to protect, like their feelings, personal space, time, values, and friendships. Through hands on activities and meaningful conversations, they’re learning that setting boundaries is a way to respect themselves and others!

Our first ever AMEND Together Summer Camp is officially underway! We started the week at Counter Punch Youth Academy, where our campers learned boxing fundamentals while building confidence, discipline, and teamwork. Here’s to a week of learning, growing, and having fun!
