AMEND Together

In Nashville, an act of domestic violence takes place almost every twenty minutes. And more women are murdered by men in Tennessee than in 46 other states.

AMEND Together is an primary prevention initiative engaging men and boys to CHALLENGE a culture that supports violence against women, CULTIVATE healthy masculinity, and CHANGE the future for women and girls. AMEND Together empowers mentors to become positive role models for young men, and provides the tools young men need to mend our culture and end violence against women. The words we say to each

other—whether on the field or behind closed door—create our culture. So the way we speak about women to one another sets the stage for how others act toward women. That’s how violence against women starts: with men, just like us, just saying words. As men, we’re responsible for this culture of violence. And as men, we have the power to end it. Ending Violence. We are so thankful to be back with for another great summer with 100 Kings!

We kicked things off with meaningful conversations about healthy relationships and the impact of peer influence. Through interactive scenarios, young men discussed whether situations were healthy, unhealthy, or abusive, and when opinions differed, it created opportunities for deeper conversations around respect, boundaries, and making positive choices.

The group also explored the difference between peer pressure and peer influence, identifying both the positive and negative effects of each. By sharing their own definitions and real life examples, the young men helped bring these important lessons to life.

We are excited for a summer filled with learning, leadership, brotherhood, and growth as 100 Kings continues to empower young men to make a positive impact in their schools, families, and communities!

The balloon game challenged our boys to practice self control, quick thinking, and adaptability! As they worked to catch the balloon, they had to pay attention to both their immediate reactions and how they responded afterward, whether they succeeded or missed it.

Just like in life, we cannot always control what comes our way, but we can control how we respond. This activity reminded us that growth happens when we learn to adapt, reflect, and respond with intention no matter the situation. 🎈

We are excited to introduce the newest AMEND team member, Anissa! 💙

Anissa has spent this school year serving as an intern with AMEND while completing her Master of Science in Social Work degree, and this weekend, she officially celebrated both milestones!

“This past year as an intern with AMEND, I learned so much from the guys we serve, and they truly shaped how I see both my degree and this work.”

We are so proud of all Anissa has accomplished and grateful that she is continuing her journey with AMEND as an official team member! Please help us congratulate her on this exciting new chapter!

⭐️Student of the Month: Samari⭐️

This month’s spotlight is from ’s after school club with Samari! Samari has shown time and time again that he is already a great leader, and his skills have truly shined in club this year. He is always quick to participate while also making space for his peers to share and be involved.

Samari does a great job helping guide conversations without taking control over them, showing strong leadership and respect for others. Once he became more comfortable in club, he really began to show everyone what he is capable of. We cannot wait to continue watching Samari grow and lead!

The ’s Spring Breakfast was last Thursday, and we’re excited to take you behind the scenes with the AMEND team and what it looked like to be ushers for the morning! We were honored to welcome guests to such a powerful event and be part of the experience in a meaningful way.

A powerful reminder that change begins with community! At Thursday’s Spring Breakfast, our AMEND Together team, dads, and boys welcomed guests as ushers, setting the tone for a morning rooted in connection and community. We also heard from Judy, an AMEND mom, who shared how the program has impacted her two sons.

We believe healthy masculinity is not about power over others, it is about showing up with integrity and using your voice to do what is right 💙

Our elementary boys dressed up as heroes to celebrate that being healthy is a superpower! 💥

They talked about what it means to take care of their bodies, their minds, and the people around them. Heroism shows up in everyday choices, and they are learning they can step into that role anytime by being healthy, thoughtful, and looking out for others in their own way!

⭐️Student of the Month: Yunior⭐️

Our Student of the Month is Yunior from ! Yunior is one of the sweetest students and brings such a cheerful, positive energy to club each week. He is always encouraging others and showing what it means to be a supportive friend.

Yunior especially enjoys learning about healthy relationships and how to be a good friend. He is passionate about being his own version of a hero by standing up for women and girls, which truly reflects the heart of our work. We are so proud of you, Yunior!
