What are some signs you’ve received from your loved one? 🌈🕊️🦋

This past weekend, my sisters’s oldest child turned 4. My sister loved planning celebrations and outings for her boys. She always put so much thought and love into all the details.

We took the boys to Legoland and had the perfect Spiderman party with his friends the next day. While we were at Legoland, we saw they had these little license plates with names on them. Growing up, my siblings and I always loved to look for our names. Her husband, Justin, found his on the same side of the display as Leah’s, so we put them together. For me, it was just a little nod that she was watching over us while we celebrated her baby. 💙

Celebrating Michaela Vogel’s Grandpa, Pete:

Hi there! I want to tell everyone about my grandpa, Pete. My grandpa helped my mom with my sister and I due to her being a single mother. He was always there to take us to school, practice, wherever we needed to be. He had a kindness that was unmatched. Every year for our school food drive, he would make sure that my class won by delivering pallets of food on the last day.. but it wasn’t about the win, it was about helping those in need and he made sure that value was engrained in us.

When he passed, we heard so many more stories about his generosity further than we could have ever imagined. Grandpa was the glue that held the family together, and that loss has been tremendously felt. It has been six years since his passing, and I genuinely can’t believe it. I feel grief still in waves. Some nights the vision of being in the room with him creeps into my mind while I’m sleeping. Some days it’s happier memories, a song, a scent.. most of the time it’s man, I wish you were here to see this. The biggest of those moments was my wedding day. I would’ve had him walk me down the aisle.. but, I know he was there.

Before I keep rambling, I’ll stop but my biggest struggle recently has been realizing that I’m starting to forget what his voice sounded like. Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you get through it?

My sister, Leah, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, November 29, 2025. She was a frequent sufferer of migraines, and she had been struggling with one that entire week. That morning she went to the ER for pain relief, where she had a seizure and ultimately went into cardiac arrest. She had never experienced a seizure or heart issues before. Her official cause of death was a terminal seizure, but unfortunately her autopsy didn’t give us any answers as to why this happened. We had just spent Thanksgiving together in their first home she and my brother in law had purchased, and she was so excited and proud. I will never understand why it was her time or what happened. It’s incredibly unfair on so many levels.

But my sister is more than this terrible thing that happened to her. So please scroll through the pictures to learn more about the amazing sister, daughter, wife, mother, and friend that she was. 💜

My name is Kendra Gibbs and my sister, Leah, passed away on 11.29.25. Since she passed, I’ve been searching for ways to cope with her death. My sister was only 33 when she passed and we should have had decades left together. In the past 7 months, I’ve tried grief support groups and therapy. But I’ve come to find that there are not many grief support groups that are tailored to young adults. Groups for people that lost their loved ones way too soon.

I’ve also come to learn that unless people have experienced grief themselves, that they can sympathize, but they don’t fully understand. I want to create a community that I desperately need myself, but maybe there are others out there as well looking for the same.

My sister often used the phrase, “Both Can Be True”, when helping her friends and family through life experiences with complicated emotions.

Grief is all complicated emotions. But I often feel it has to be one or the other. Sadness and joy don’t naturally coexist in my mind. But both can be true. We can be devastated and heartbroken in our loss, but still experience the beauty in life.

To navigate the complicated feelings of grief, I’d love to start hosting monthly get togethers to share about our loved ones and what we’re going through. I’d also love to plan activities where we might find a little fun and joy in the midst of our pain.

If this sounds like a community you need, welcome. My sister was so good at loving people fiercely and supporting them through their lowest moments, so I would love to honor her by doing the same.
