We all deserve a little respect—and the chance to a little fun! 🎶💜

And that’s exactly what we did with our seniors at FiftyForward Creative Commons Bordeaux! We listened to the classics, took a trip down memory lane, shared plenty of laughs, and enjoyed the simple joy of being together.

At AWAKE Nashville, healthy aging is about more than just housing, it’s about connection, community, and creating moments that remind our seniors just how valued they are.

This is what community looks like. 💚

Our recent One Bad Break community screening was about so much more than watching a film. It was about creating space for seniors to be heard, bringing community leaders to the table, sharing resources, and having the conversations that can lead to real change.

At A.W.A.K.E. Nashville, we believe our seniors deserve more than recognition for the communities they helped build, they deserve the opportunity to remain a part of them.

We are incredibly grateful to every senior, panelist, partner, sponsor, volunteer, and community member who showed up, shared their voice, asked questions, laughed with us, and reminded us why this work matters.

Our seniors have a story. Their voices matter. And their legacy deserves a place to live. 💚

Yesterday’s One Bad Break Community Film Screening, Panel Discussion & Resource Fair was a huge success! 🎬💙

We are incredibly grateful to and Melvin Fowler for graciously opening their doors and hosting us as we brought our community together for an important conversation about aging, housing stability, wellness, and the challenges facing seniors living on fixed incomes.

A special thank you to our event sponsors — , , , , and all of our generous in-kind donors. Because of your support, we were able to offer this entire event completely FREE to our community, from the film screening and resource fair to refreshments and giveaways. 🙏🏽

Thank you to our incredible moderator and panelists for lending your voices and expertise, our volunteers for helping everything run smoothly, our photographer for capturing these special moments, and most importantly, thank you to every person who showed up, participated in the conversation, shared your story, and supported our mission.

We know the challenges facing older adults in our rapidly growing city cannot be solved overnight. But yesterday reminded us that when we bring people together, listen to our seniors, share resources, and commit to finding solutions, change is possible.

This is more than a film. It’s more than one event. It’s a movement to ensure our seniors are seen, heard, valued, and able to remain connected to the communities they helped build.

And we’re just getting started. 💙✨

🎬 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
A.W.A.K.E. Nashville is seeking four dependable, welcoming volunteers to support our upcoming free community screening of One Bad Break—a powerful short film exploring how one unexpected hardship can disrupt the stability of an older adult living on a fixed income.

📅 Saturday, August 29, 2026 ⏰ Volunteer shift: 4:30–8:30 p.m. 🎥 Event: 6:00–8:00 p.m. 📍 FiftyForward Bordeaux Creative Commons 3315 John Mallette Drive, Nashville, TN 37218

Volunteer assignments include:
• Guest welcome and check-in • Refreshment support • Audience support • Vendor support and event assistance
Light refreshments will be provided.

Your service will help us create a welcoming experience, raise awareness of senior displacement, and encourage our community to help older adults age with dignity, stability, and connection.

Get ready Nashville, we are going on a community film tour and the first stop is at FiftyForward Creative Commons in Bordeaux on August 29th at 6pm.
Join us for a powerful evening featuring a screening of our short film One Bad Break written and produced by Kyler Wilson Natalie Ruffino Wilson, followed by a community conversation about aging with dignity, housing stability, and resources available to support older adults so they can remain in the communities they helped shape. Attendees will also have an opportunity to enjoy refreshments, giveaways, and connect with local organizations serving our senior community.

We are incredibly proud and honored that was selected for this year’s Nashville StoryGive project. Huge thank you to Kyler Wilson, Natalie Wilson, and the entire cast and crew for so beautifully capturing our mission and shining a light on a story that is too often overlooked.
This film helps bring awareness to senior displacement and the urgent need for affordable housing and community support for older adults in Nashville. We are grateful for every person who helped make this project possible.
