My name is Rusti, and I have built a little bit of kitty heaven. I am dedicated to saving as many ferals as I can and am passionate about educating others on

how to combat the astronomical numbers of feral cats world wide ! I release most ferals I trap but will keep all kittens, pregnant mommas and sick or injured kits. The kits I have at my facility now are ones that never left once released or have a lower survival rate in the swamp, so I have integrated them into my existing colony. It's hard work and it's not cheap, but I do what I can with what I've got. This is Abbey. Abbey is one of the Soprano clan. She is the smallest of all the clan and has the most pronounced split face feature ( Chimera cat ). My nick for her is Abbey the alien, b/c when she was much smaller she looked so odd and her lighter fur was such an unusual color. She has since filled out some and loves to lie like this, especially on my computer chair. ** BONUS original photo of her in the comment section. She was on the chair which has been massacred by their claws so it didn't make for a very pretty picture. I hope you like how I changed it, and hope it brings you a smile.

PIG FROGS! You gotta love the sounds of the swamp! So Ozzie and I were out doing a walkabout and the pig frog was very loud. Walkabouts aren’t always just for fun, but I need to check our property. A NIGHTTIME VIBE AT THE EMPTY MEOW CORRAL!! when the sun goes down in the swamp, you can hear the most beautiful sounds and experience the Cats in a different light so to speak. Dusk and Dawn are my favorite times to interact with the kits. Sometimes when I can’t sleep, I will come out onto the deck and enclosure area and just spend time with them and listen to the swamp sounds. 😸

So OZZIE decided to come into the lanai and deck enclosure area again! I had a slight issue with Bear who was all up in his face. I had to gently scoot him away, a couple of times to avoid a major hissy fit! But I am so surprised that everything went so smoothly and yet again, there was no fighting! 😺

So every once in a while, I take a half an hour or so at the end of my day to sit in my Lawn chair and just gaze out into the sanctuary. This video was taken a few weeks ago when one of my newest kits named Pookie, who I fondly call banshee was released from her cage. She and her brother were surrendered, and she has proven to be quite a challenge! One of those kits that I don’t know if I’ll ever get to touch, but I am trying to work my charms on her. Meanwhile, she caused a slight back up on the catwalk highway. 😸🤪

Do you remember when I finally trapped Rain, Stone, and Twig ? Then for weeks after, I tried to catch Scotch and Brandi which I finally did with a drop trap. The fun fact ?? All these kits are siblings to the Soprano clan !! Same parents, different litters ! And if you are familiar with Candy and Crisp... they too are siblings of them all ! Mama Mimosa gave me 3 litters before I could finally get her spayed. It's not very often that a feral mom gives birth to 3 litters and all those kiddens end up together under one roof. ( or in one sanctuary ) ;) 😺
