Today, as we celebrate the freedoms and opportunities that make our nation strong, we also remember that true independence begins with having a safe place to call home.

This Fourth of July, we’re grateful for our dedicated staff, community partners, volunteers, donors, and advocates who work tirelessly to ensure that individuals and families experiencing homelessness have access to hope, resources, and a path toward housing stability. Together, we’re building a stronger, more compassionate Southwest Florida—one where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

As you enjoy time with family and friends, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together to serve our neighbors.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, we also extend our deepest gratitude to all veterans and military families for your courage, strength, and service.

May we take a moment today to reflect, remember, and honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Last week, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 20 investigators from the 4th session of our Getting Ahead program!

Coming from 20 different backgrounds and walks of life, they each brought unique experiences but shared one powerful goal: to get ahead.

Throughout the 16-week program, these individuals showed incredible commitment to themselves and their futures. Their dedication, hard work, and perseverance led to meaningful progress toward stability and self-sufficiency. This milestone is just the beginning.

We also want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our community partners for your continued support. Your partnership in this program helps create real opportunities for growth, empowerment, and lasting change.

We're already looking forward to our next session and the continued impact this program brings to our community!

Cold nights can be dangerous, especially for our most vulnerable neighbors. Lee County cold weather outreach efforts are in place to provide shelter, resources, and support.

***UPDATE 1/29/2026*** Please note that previously announced plans have been adjusted to accommodate the forecast. New information is available at leegov.com and in the HVS Reach app.

With colder weather moving in this week, Lee County Government is coordinating with partner agencies to activate its cold-weather outreach plan. Lee County Human & Veteran Services and Housing, Outreach and Treatment (HOT) Teams will be in the community connecting with individuals who are experiencing homelessness to provide resources and distribute cold-weather supplies.

Warming stations and buses will be available at select locations Tuesday through Sunday, and The Salvation Army will provide temporary shelter on a first-come, first-served basis. Stay informed and access resources directly through the free HVS Reach app, available to download on the Apple App Store or Google Play.

🚨MISSING ENDANGERED ADULT🚨

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing/endangered adult, 55-year-old Felix Valdez.

Felix is 6’01, weighs 200 lbs, with grey/black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen on the 400 block of Figuera Avenue in Fort Myers wearing a dark blue hoodie, green undershirt, blue shorts, and red crocs. Felix was traveling east on foot toward Hendry County.
