In 2008, two seniors from Naperville began a movement towards the eradication of world hunger. Food Fight is a non-profit organization dedicated towards the fight against world hunger and the development of high school leaders. Every year, it is estimated that 3.1 million children die of malnutrition; another 60 million are living for days on end without a proper meal. Over 10% of the world's popu
lation is in danger of starvation. How can a student run organization make even a dent in a problem this large? Every year, Food Fight raises money by donations, our annual benefit concert, T-shirt sales, and fundraisers. This money is used to buy dried food - chicken, rice, vegetables - that is then packaged and made ready to ship by the students in their schools! This system creates both efficiency and the profound feeling of being apart of something greater than yourself. Students that help organize and students that take part in packing the food get to see the difference anybody, even a student, can make in the world. Our mission is to eradicate world hunger and to create strong student leaders in the process. Fueled by passion, students in Food Fight must break through the barriers that go along with a student-run organization being successful in an adult-oriented world. As an organization, Food Fight will not destroy world hunger, but the leaders it creates today will tomorrow.
