We are heading into our eighth annual tournament after two successful campaigns in 2015 and 2016. This year we will be donating half the proceeds to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital and half to a Nantucket not for profit organization to be selected by the winner of the tournament! We are excited for the arrival of Spring and the ensuing striped bass migration! This tournament is all about getting ba
ck outside and enjoying the best of what Nantucket has to offer. Prizes will be awarded to participants for a variety of different catch types including first landed sea run striper, smallest striper in length, first keeper bass 28" or larger and the largest fish landed during the course of the tournament. Any participant that registers a catch will also be eligible to receive one of a variety of prizes drawn at random including the grand prize in which you will be able to select the island charity that will receive the proceeds of the tournament! The 2017 Spring Sea Run Opener Rules and Information. General fishing begins May 1st at 12:01 AM but any angler registered ahead of this date may begin fishing earlier to procure the prize for first sea run striped bass. Entrants may register any time leading up to and during the duration of the tournament but may not register a catch until 24 hours after registration. To Register click "sign up" at the top of the page or the Paypal link below in the "website" field. This is a catch and release striped bass tournament. All catches must be either from beach or boat in Nantucket's inshore waters. All brackish ponds are off limits to this tournament as only migratory sea run stripers will be eligible. To register a catch simply take a photo of the fish and submit it to the webpage springsearunopener.com or email it to [email protected]. A tape measure depicting the length will be required to claim any length sensitive prize (shortest, longest and first "keeper" of 28'' or more). In the event of a tie in length, the photo submission received first will take priority. In addition if you are able to have a photo taken with the fish please do this as well. Next, post the picture with the time and date of the catch, and the length of the fish to the page (www.facebook.com/springsearunopener) or email an image with the necessary information to [email protected]. If by May 31st all prize categories aren't filled, the tournament will continue on until they are. If there are any further questions regarding the rules, how to sign up, or anything regarding the tournament please send a private message to the Spring Sea Run Opener page or the tournament email listed below.
