PACIFIC JUSTICE INSTITUTE

There seems to be a lot of confusion on if a Church can come out vocally against Prop 1 because it legalizes the murder of babies.

The answer is basically Yes. You pastor can not only tell you that it is evil, and compare it to the baby sacrifices to Moloch, but he can also tell you that God wants you to vote and to vote NO.

Here's Kathrine Hartley from Pacific Justice Institute note about this to the VAC [with my non-lawyer clarifications]. PJI is an attorney firm that will defend Christians and Churches for FREE if you are attacked or persecuted for your faith.

Pacific Justice note on Propositions
1) Pastors [and employees] in their official capacities may speak about specific legislation, ballot initiatives, constitutional amendments or local political measures as long as there is not a great deal of church resources going into it. Also applies to 501c3s. [ADF says this means less than 5% of your time and resources which equates to up to 5% your total budget and 5% of 40 hours a week i.e. less than 2 hours a week. See also https://mychurchfinder.org/legal-dos-and-donts/]

2) Pastors in their personal capacities can speak or spend on any of these issues as much as they want.
3) Pastors and 501c3 leaders can speak about current moral issues, even if political, as much as they want.
4) Pastors can encourage members of their church to vote as much as they would like.
5) Specific candidates cannot be endorsed by pastors in their official capacities, although there is wide belief that this is unconstitutional [and will probably end up one day in the courts].

6) Pastors may endorse candidates as much as they want in their personal capacities.

Our next meeting on September 1st is only 6 days away. Put it on your calendar and be there!
The speakers will be addressing how Prop 1 is too extreme for Idaho! Come with your questions and any ideas to help get the word out to defeat this horrific proposition.

The SAR was a hit in August. We also heard from Kris with Love Life opposition Prop 1. Member Jean regalled us with incredible story of being united with a family heirloom - an historic branding iron from great uncle.

After dropping off donated items to this location, the contacts told us the community gave an overwhelming response. The greatest need at this point is monetary donations for fuel that will especially help the rural locations keep their equipment running to keep battling the flames. Their venmo is listed in the photo as a QR code. Or you can search Venmo for -FireDEPT

TVRW will have a collection jar at our Aug 4th meeting for cash that we will forward to this cause.
