82 years ago today, thousands of young men stormed the beaches of Normandy knowing what it might cost them.

We don't take that lightly.

To every veteran who has answered the call β€” thank you. We remember.

Craig Turnage and Derek Snyder joined the Nacogdoches Hero Foundation board meeting with a special surprise presentation for our very own Blake Westmoreland β€” announcing his selection for the 2026 SFA Alumni Association Lumberjack Pride Award! πŸͺ“πŸ’œ

The Lumberjack Pride Award honors SFA graduates who demonstrate outstanding Lumberjack spirit, pride, and commitment to the university community.

Blake is incredibly deserving of this recognition, and we are so proud of him! We can’t wait to celebrate with him on September 25th at the
Alumni Association Banquet when he officially receives this well-earned honor.

Congratulations, Blake! Axe ’Em! πŸ’œ

The Nacogdoches Hero Foundation was honored to have a special guest join us at today’s board meeting β€” Officer Spencer Tutt.

We invited Spencer to spend time with us as we presented a check to benefit him and his family following his second serious medical emergency, which has left him unable to work for an extended period of time.

Our board members and volunteers have all grown very fond of Spencer, and we are incredibly proud of our mission to support him and others who serve our community during times of need. He is a truly valued member of the Nacogdoches community and the Nacogdoches Police Department.

The resources we are able to provide are only possible because of the generosity, compassion, and heart of our community. It is through the kindness of our donors, volunteers, and supporters that we can continue showing up for our local heroes when they need us most.

We were so grateful to have Spencer with us today and continue to stand behind him and his family. πŸ’™

This past Memorial Day weekend, the Nacogdoches Hero Foundation said goodbye to a local hero and friend, James Lester β€œJim” Peacock.

Jim served honorably in the United States Army from 1989 to 1992, including active combat service during Operation Just Cause in Panama. He left the Army with the rank of Sergeant (E-5). His body carried the effects of that service for a lifetime, and on several occasions, the NHF was honored to help Jim during his declining health.

Board members, Action Committee volunteers, SFA football players, LoneStar Moving Company, and many others stepped in to assist Jim in different ways. What started as helping a veteran became a genuine friendship. That is the heart behind what we doβ€”we work with real people, build real relationships, and follow through for our heroes until the very end.

The loss of a veteran impacts all who have served. Jim was proud of his service, proud of his country, and proud of the life he built afterward, earning his history degree from The University of Texas following his military career.

Please keep Jim’s family, friends, and fellow veterans in your thoughts and prayers. We are grateful for his service and honored to have known him.

Rest easy, Jim. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

There's a family in Nacogdoches County who lost everything when their hero didn't come home. A table sponsorship won't bring them back but it tells that family that this community hasn't forgotten them. That seat matters ⭐

The Nacogdoches Hero Foundation's 4th Annual Hero Banquet is coming and table sponsorships are limited.

This isn't just a dinner. It's a room full of people who refuse to let sacrifice go unrecognized. Business owners, community leaders, neighbors, and friends all gathered in one place to say we see you, we honor you, and we've got your family.

When your business takes a table, you're not just getting a seat in the room. You're becoming part of something that outlasts the event. You're standing publicly beside the veterans, first responders, and families who have given so much to protect this county.

If your business believes in this community, this is how you show it.

πŸ“Œ Table sponsorships are available now at nachero.org
⚠️ Spots are LIMITED, don't wait until they're gone.

Reach out today and let's get you at the table.

The people protecting Nacogdoches County carry more than a badge. They carry weight most of us will never fully see and it's time we talked about it. Swipe to learn what's really happening behind the uniform. πŸ‘‰

Up to 30% of first responders experience PTSD, depression, or anxiety nearly 10 times the rate of the general population. That number represents real people in our community. Officers, firefighters, paramedics, and veterans who have absorbed trauma shift after shift, call after call, year after year often in silence because the culture of service doesn't always make space for struggle.

The burnout. The emotional fatigue. The long-term health impacts that follow them home long after the shift ends. These aren't just statistics. They are the hidden cost of keeping our community safe.

This is exactly why the Nacogdoches Hero Foundation exists to provide resources, recovery support, and assistance for the heroes who protect and serve us, and for the families standing beside them through it all.

They show up for us every single day without hesitation. The very least we can do is make sure they are not left to carry that weight alone.

Share this post and help us spread awareness. Someone you know might need to see this today. πŸ‘‡πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

There are freedoms we enjoy every day because someone else was willing to sacrifice everything for them. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

This Memorial Day, we remember the men and women who never made it home. The ones who missed birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and ordinary moments so the rest of us could continue living ours in freedom.

For many families, today is not just another holiday. It is a reminder of a seat that stays empty, a voice they still wish they could hear, and a sacrifice that changed their lives forever.

We honor those who served not because history tells us to, but because their lives mattered. Their courage mattered. Their sacrifice still matters.

β€œThe Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” β€” Psalm 34:18 πŸ•ŠοΈ

Today, we remember. We reflect. And we give thanks for those who carried burdens most of us will never fully understand.
